I love companies being punished for replacing workers with AI. Gimme more
Duolingo announced it was going “AI-first” just over six months ago. Since then its stock is down 64%.

Real snapshot of the economy at large
Larger businesses with 50 or more employees reported a net gain of 90,000 workers.

But companies with fewer than 50 saw a decline of about 120,000.
U.S. companies cut 32,000 workers in November.

AI music is a disgrace, an affront to art, and something for us all to reject wholesale.

Not only does it hurt artists, it makes our lives far worse and threatens that which makes us human.

somehow it's "hoarding" when I keep my old tech as long as possible and resent forced obsolescence

but not "hoarding" when billionaires and tech companies suck up all the money and burn though the planet in search of endless growth
stupid young people, stop buying a new phone every year if you don't want to be broke. wait no, not like that.

Charlie Kirk memes are everywhere. Everywhere. Is it disrespectful? Sure. Is it also a rejection of the attempt to create a fascist martyr and force him on us? I think so.

This is an actual attempt at democratic deliberation within an organization where members will weigh in. And that's actually a good thing.
While this all looks and feels very messy for NYC-DSA, it certainly beats the current system where almost everything is done behind closed doors at the behest of consultants & the only choice Democratic voters are given are to either get in line or zone the fuck out.

“When the 8 African American sheriffs took over the largest counties in North Carolina, it became a threat to the good ol’ boy system,” says the sheriff of Charlotte. These new sheriffs broke ties with ICE.

But GOP lawmakers cracked down this week, overbidding the governor’s veto to adopt this law:

Boosted by new supermajorities, Republicans are closing in on legislation to mandate more collaboration with ICE and preempt local policies hard-won by immigrants’ rights advocates.
