I think the path would have had to be a bit different for Biden. Probably would have had to involve getting Europe to block trade and uncomfortable weapons sales to gulf monarchies

I think Jeffries knows at this point that he has to take this stance or he both has a chance of losing a primary and if he survives the primary not getting to be speaker because dem primary voters have sent him a bunch of new house members that want heads on stakes and don’t think he will deliver

Hell in a number of cases it isn’t even programs that the Dems can take credit for creating.

Do either Stevens or Mills have any grassroots support?

It’s not so much I think that they wish they were republicans but there are I think a number of electeds that wish that they had voters that were more like the Republican voters where they can talk about something on TV and the base of voters gets behind it

It’s part donors and lobbyists, part the data people they like, part revolt of the bosses, and part resentment of the voter base that they have

"Amero-Wagner alum has better FP positions than the replacement-level Democrat" is a replacement-level Democrat problem

Feels like something that would make checked out people that benefit from a program that gets cut become partisan Dems

I would like a simple answer but I sort of like her framing it this way because it makes anyone that want to deny it confront the evidence that exists instead of just arguing over a term. It both asserts the position and defends the position

I think it is more important for the Brits to try to seize on it than the Americans at this point. Trump being in power and Biden being out off office makes it less damaging for the entirety of dem politics because Dems are willing to break from the line when out of power. Labour has a tougher time

Black lung is incurable but 100% preventable.

After decades of work, there's a solution on the table— but the Trump administration refuses to implement it.

While they drag their feet, lives are at stake. I'm calling them out.

It tends to feel good when you aren’t paying attention but when you realize how much you miss it sort of can be a brain worm where it starts to make you worry about missing something

Great if she wants to run but DSCC really should not be doing fundraising for anyone in a primary

His frame of thinking is deals and the more out there a possibility is, the more likely he is to want it because it strikes his ego

(Arguably the biggest problem with neoliberalism is that it refuses to centrally plan things that should be centrally planned, like railroads and internet connections and a healthcare system, because it has such an aversion to spreadsheet centralization)

The end times theology is the basis of it but currently I think the majority of the reason is just wanting to kill Arabs and Muslims because of 9/11

The story of how a holiday originally instituted to celebrate an embattled immigrant community seen as culturally and at times racially distinct from Anglo Protestants, has become associated with the same political coalition that hates immigrants today, is the story of whiteness in America.

I think if Trump fucks over the farm and energy sectors like it appears he will, we may have some odd states that get negatively polarized against voting for republicans in statewide federal races for a bit
