god created him and demanded that he die
i have opinions about whether you should be allowed to smoke weed and have a security clearance but it makes me angry that everyone in silicon valley with a clearance is constantly geeked on a technically legal research chemical used to deice soviet hovercraft skirts
He’s just jazzed about the possibility of quantum data layers.
They’re calling him the world’s most sober man:

look, i don't know if there will be history graduate students in the year 2073, but if there are, you need to know this: colonel lockjaw was not a satire of greg bovino.

one battle after another was filmed entirely before he was a public figure.

One of the things I like about Seattle is that it has a large population of Northeast African immigrants. That's not a part of the world I get to hear about much from its inhabitants, so it's nice to get into a conversation with somebody. Plus the food is top-notch when they start restaurants.

Sometimes the intensity of AI hate weirds me out a little too but like cmon people hate it bc it’s coming for their jobs, and usually it’s literally visual artists and animators on here who are already facing nonzero financially meaningful competition from AI.

I’ve been pretty sold on the idea that Dems should put effort into being a social club as much as a political party in large part because it’s increasingly clear this sort of group ritual is something we need as a society and it’s a lot better if it’s one that had values we actually want to promote

The frame of the headline is actually more helpful for Hegseth than the alternative that I suspect is true: that Hegseth, on finding out survivors were rescued instead of murdered in an operation, demanded his resignation.

it's cool that the UK has invented guys who talk like Matt Walsh but think they're a radical leftist
Oh, and feminists, you forgot feminists.

But, then, trans rights activists always neglect women, don't they?

Because they don't know what a woman is.

I don’t want to be pollyannish about the past, but it was basically inconceivable twenty years ago that a president would say this publicly
Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."

Hegseth is freeing the warfighter from meddlesome rules & regulations against betraying your country to an enemy nation.
MORE Breaking on MS NOW: Pete Hegseth refused an interview request for the Pentagon Inspector General's investigation into Signalgate, according to two sources who read and were briefed on report.

Hegseth would not turn over his phone, a source who read the report told MS NOW.
Breaking on MS NOW: The Signalgate report contradicts Pete Hegseth's claims he did nothing wrong. It shows he "violated policy by using a non-approved device," a source who read the report says.

Hegseth failed to preserve records. The report says he put the operations and service people at risk.

Developing a unified theory of the dominant modes of rhetoric in Dem politics that I think are annoying.
“Progslop” is the assertion southern white people would vote for socialists if they heard their message about universal healthcare.

“Modslop” is the assertion Dems could win southern white people if they spent their whole campaigns reacting to Republican talking points.

it is worthwhile to consider the fact that trumpism's ideological foundation is built by the architects of the iraq war's worst sadism. desantis participated in torture at guantanamo. hegseth was popularized by his defense of war criminals. stephen miller was a debater defending abu ghraib.

The more immediate effect is that it has Rs nervous about lowering margins in red House seats.
14% national swing is the exact kind of shit that starts knocking over reach senate seats like dominoes
14% swing from 2024 when all is said and done? Pretty good considering just how high-profile the race became in the last week

Turnout is currently *93%* of 2022, and it's also a 14% swing from 2022 despite similar turnout levels

a good 40% of the argument for decriminalization is to take the distribution networks out of the hands of the guys who did this. these are not the victims of the drug war. these (alongside law enforcement) are the perpetrators.

the thing is that Israel did not even bother to defend its actions in terms which a person who was not insane would support. they spent the entire war burning residual goodwill
Also apropos nothing else, public opinion was turning against Israel before TikTok went mainstream
