I agree that it was orchestrated and telegraphed but I would have expected more of a response to using your large bombing aircraft to bomb infrastructure of a country that has been considered an arch enemy of the United States for like 40 years

I think the entire lack of response to the Iran bombing impacts this. The general public will not consider it to be war without boots on the ground and I think the odds of boots on the ground are very low

I am skeptical that there would be boots on the ground in a jungle even if things escalate. My expectations for how ground attacks would go would be a hell of a lot of bombing and a handful of soldiers to collect Maduro and bring him to Trump

We are lucky that the admin has not been able to sell it to this point because media would love nothing more than a rally around the flag for trump

If Johnson had a working relationship with Thune or the Senate Dems and was smart I could see this working but the all stick no carrot White House insists on an all stick no carrot house

I’m not sure how that doesn’t turn into a circular firing squad. It would also require the senate to play along which I do not think they are inclined to do
