Also a duly elected Canadian Member of Parliament, Iqra Khalid, Liberal MP for Mississauga-Erin Mills, was physically roughed up by Israeli military officers and shoved into a wall at the border crossing.

Does this sound like some gentle "doing this for your own good" diplomacy?

Guess I'm killing Firefox soon too then....

When are these stupid ass high on their own supply tech bro dipshits gonna realize it's only gonna impress fellow showerless tech bros and no one else?

All I hear from friends is a willingness to actively kill anything they own that starts adding AI

Increasingly true in Canada as well. Great job, everyone.
I hate that every week there's something stupid like an Everyone Has To Drink Pee Now Bill and the alert sounds to CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES THIS IS NOT A DRILL and you really wish you could just trust them to not go for the pee drinking bill

Things are bad and are getting worse because of centrism and conservatism hollowing out our future. Both of these political positions refuse to confront and fix the real problems of the present. They encourage decay. The main difference between them is the speed at which the decay happens.

Because things suck now and they know that everything will get worse in the future because no one in a position of power has any real interest in making things better.
How did Canada’s young people become its unhappiest generation?
From families to finances, benchmarks are happening later for Canada’s young — and their happiness levels have been plummeting.

In the past, a young person could have a shitty job that paid them enough money to live in a shitty apartment in a big city & go to clubs & have fun, knowing they'd eventually move up to less shitty jobs & buy a house.
Now that shitty apartment costs most of their paycheck, and there's no moving up.

Our society only seems to promote people who think the point of art is to hold a finished product, rather than the process of creation. I'm ashamed to admit how much it bothers me that you can be so obviously ignorant and still be taken seriously.
I have creative projects that I've been struggling to finish for *years* that I would rather fling into a fire than let a computer complete them for me.

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

I feel like AI slop ads is a “woke mob/cancel culture” initiative that everyone can get behind. These companies should be bullied into submission on this absolute garbage.
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

Having survived five successive Xmases in retail during undergrad, I think it should be mandatory for everyone to work at least one Xmas in retail as empathy training.
(It's also why I still have PTSD around most Xmas music).
please be nice to service workers in the holiday season. a woman beside me waiting for coffee just said, out loud, in full earshot of the barista, "they're really slow, huh?" and all I wanted to do was tell the worker I'd be her alibi if she wanted to punch her

AI is a climate issue. AI is a climate crisis.
A few important points here

- Generative AI supercharged data centre growth: lobbyist and substacker lines pretending like this is just streaming are false

- Even when you consider much of the projected growth is speculative, the *likely* projects are still MASSIVE
