My 2026 prediction: Dems win the House.

My 2026 hot take: Dems take the Senate through AK, NC, OH, ME.

My 2028 hit take: Ruben Gallego over Nikki Haley.

there are a couple of ways to think about this, one is that no one should be running for their first senate race at this age, and the other is that if platner can’t beat her, he definitely can’t beat collins. i think he can. everybody needs to stop crying and start fighting.

In general even people on here struggle to comprehend how much WORSE the GOP has become even from their very bad baseline.

I know other people are saying this is what College Republicans always was, and I’m not trying to run interference for republicans, but my experience with friends who were members a quarter century ago was not this. This is much worse.

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

But the establishment!!!!

Like come on, pols like Obama, AOC, and most recently Mamdani overcame them to win. It can happen if you got talent. Believe in your candidates.

Its amazing how little faith so many ppl have in their own preferred candidates or in their ability to convince voters to vote for them in a primary

That's what the primary is for!

biden-era policies were extremely geared toward the working class, whose wages went up at much higher rates than the top half of earners and saw a job boom, as well as IRA investment in traditional manufacturing regions. they rewarded him by switching heavily to Trump.

Every angry screed about how Biden blew it just does not acknowledge the whole reason Biden was unpopular was because he did the exact economic policy they claimed to want instead of pummeling the workers with austerity until Doordash servants worked for pennies and Subway footlongs were $5 again.

we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.

Congrats to everyone whos been eagerly handing it to Donald Trump for signing a thing that actually has to be maintained long term, not just signed, bc they were so eager to dunk on Biden that they were willing to ignore the whole context of this region. Your Fell For It Again Award is in the mail.

He was supposed to inherit gramp’s business but threw it all away to immigrate to the US because he noticed I was getting bullied in school and decided Japan wasn’t a good place for a ハーフ to grow up in.

The urban design is also very fun, (I think). It’s not super dense so you have some single family homes next taller apartment buildings. A lot of are mixed used so you get a lot of cute little restaurants and shops in the 1st floor of these SFHs.

If you’re into this sort of thing 京急蒲田駅 has a pretty fantabulously unique design as a major transfer hub built up in a very small area.

In the area is 你好, a Chinese restaurant run by former 残留孤児, probably some of my favorite Chinese food in Japan. Their gyoza is famous.
nkfinity.bsky.social
But quite honestly it’s not a place I’d recommend to tourists. Really nothing to do here, unless you wanna eat good Chinese food.
nkfinity.bsky.social
Haha, mostly the area between Haneda and Shinagawa where the fam is. More suburb-y, a lot less dense but still good transit access and walkable neighborhoods. Barely see any Gaijin. Easy access to Haneda via Keikyuu. Enough shopping areas. Plenty of good restaurants.

My Western brain: immigration! Tourism!Globalization! Good good good!

My Japanese soul: BARBARIC GAIJIN IT SAYS CLEARLY IN ENGLISH TO NOT EAT/DRINK HERE.

Visiting Ginza to do some errand and boy one afternoon there is enough to instill in me a deep hatred of tourists who cannot follow basic instructions in English.

A lot of people make this assumption that because I come from Tokyo I love its urban core. Nope. I hate everything inside the Yamanote circle and don’t want anything to do with those areas.

Dune is a badly written novel but it’s very exciting if you read it at the right age for the ideas to captivate you enough that your brain can compensate for the prose.

No, you don't gotta hand it to him for possibly getting the third Biden cease fire eight months late after tolerating a mass starvation campaign and demanding a little ethnic cleansing and enormous bribes as a treat, and only because Netanyahu surprise bombed the chief bribe facilitator.

Bibi essentially got to freely demolish Gaza for like 10 months because Trump didn’t give a f***. That he suddenly started caring isn’t some sort of credit to Trump.

I also bet the Warriors for the championship at 20-1. Reasons:

1) Curry could have an MVP season with the hand slap rule change. It is certain he will break the record for 4 pt plays.

And in the playoffs… unguardable.
