They also remind me of the Hillary deadenders/PUMA from 2008 who refused to support Obama. A PUMA site, HillaryIs44, was so anti-Obama that they pivoted to the Republicans and supported Trump in 2016.
Tbh the current status of the Democratic Party reminds me strongly of the "Truman Democrats" who refused to support Kennedy, and who formed the core of the Dixiecrats targeted by the Southern Strategy.

Is there a real and significant problem of people pretending? Or is this just another thing right-wingers do to blame somebody when their shitty kids don't get what they think they're entitled to?
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.
