Just a guy who did an antifascist drawing once, and used to tweet about Holiday Road. Also just a guy not actually named Nolan.
I have an itchy block finger and am often in a foul mood, but I swear I’m often nice!

This is literally the most sincere statement I have ever made online and ever will. I believe it to my bones and the day I stop believing it is the day I am no longer me, and I hope it’s the day I die.
We have been taught for so long (my generation especially) that the biggest sin in life is to let someone get one up on you. So what? Life isn’t a contest; the people selling you that already consider you the pawns in their game. Empathy being destroyed is the death of anything good in human culture

That is one loyal sugar baby. And she didn't even get real sugar. She got Splenda all while poisoning the rest of us.
Hey, congratulations to all of Olivia Nuzzi’s horny media critic defenders. Heckuva job!

“Why am I being forced to see—“

Let me cut you off there, Chief. I never told you to use the discover tab instead of the following one. And if you are following people who share shit you don’t want to see? Get over it.

People need food. Market won’t provide it. Government should. It’s literally the whole point.
Turns out Mamdani's controversial proposal for government-run supermarkets isn't so novel. Other cities also are toying with the idea to bring fresh, affordable food to communities that do not have easy access to it. Good WSJ read (gift link)

The goal is for the store to become profitable without any government subsidy within three years.

These people are incompetent and also unhinged. The #1 question is WHY are West Virginia National Guards people deployed in D.C. in the first place? WHY would increasing the number prevent future shootings????
Pete Hegseth says that President Trump has asked him to deploy an additional 500 National Guard members to DC. x.com/RapidRespons...

One of the joys of growing up in the early days of Nickelodeon is I got to reap the benefits of all sorts of odd Canadian kids shows, plus odd shows from the UK, France, and Japan.

I get that Nicktoons were a massive improvement on American kids cartoons in the 90s, but I loved glorified UHF Nick.
Canada made weird tv shows because it was all being done with government funded art grant money so they fell in this wacky middle ground between “shoestring budget” and “no expectation to generate shareholder value” which is really the best way to make art

Pediatricians say vaccines do not cause autism. A bear-eating heroin addict who fantasizes about sucking his own semen out of his lovers' orifices says they do. For busy parents, it can be hard to know who to trust.

I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."
Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

I have seen genuinely dogpiles happen to people who were misunderstood in a flippant comment by humorless assholes, but if you come in here guns blazing being both pro-AI and condescending about it to people who are getting stolen from by AI, you are experiencing consequences, and are not a victim.

If you're really "excited about AI" then you should probably not talk about it here, where the community is predominantly made up of people who are being stolen from by AI and people whose future is being destroyed by AI.

You saying something so obnoxious that a large number of relative strangers all take time out of their evening to go on record as not agreeing with it isn't a "pile on"

It's fascinating watching people who simply did not understand that most of what they thought of organic engagement was just the result of promotion algorithms, suddenly be confronted with an actual realistic distribution of opinions.

Yeah, one of the real flaws with Bluesky is that if you make a post whose message is basically "hey, do the losers at this place still have a stick up their ass about my machine that steals their writing?" it attracts negative responses.

It's a weird glitch, and it's certainly not *your* fault.

I actually trust raccoons more than LLM nonsense.

Being responsible for the one vegetarian entree for Thanksgiving makes me grateful that despite my being a fairly competent cook, I’m never the one in charge of an entire meal. Just precooking the veggie lasagna taxes my executive function even on adhd meds.

To paraphrase the classic old tweet: I’m not going to indulge in this person’s humiliation fetish.
Is this platform still massively against AI or has it moved more towards acceptance?
