Yeah this is one of the things that gets lost in the "you can't judge people by modern standards" debate as applied to Columbus: he was so bad that people at the time felt the need to invent new standards to try and rule his behaviour specifically out. He was, you know, a monster.

I would just reiterate, that it seems unlikely that I, Just A Guy, A Regular Guy, knew more in-depth detail about Peter Mandelson's links to Jeffrey Epstein than the Prime Minister off the United Kingdom who was at the time considering appointing him as Ambassador to the United States.

I'm fascinated by the sociology of it - I imagine for a lot of these people interacting with Epstein was just something one did because that was what someone in your position did, like going to the Met or joining an exclusive golf club.
