Because they play baseball as some of us were taught it’s supposed to be played. They are more than a group of talents, which, to be fair, can win a lot of ballgames. They play tough, tight, smart, and together.

Agreed. But the Chicago art forms you cite have never been platformed on a national scale like SNL & lack a visual dress-up-as shorthand. So loser guys at ballgames do Ditka, because it’s recognizable. How does one dress up as Footwork, Stepping, or Drill? Or even Blues or Jazz? Ask Jake or Elwood.

The response to the Charlie Kirk death—so many “I respected him”, random stores doing half mast flags, minute silences and on-screen tributes at ballgames—really underlines how the republicans keep winning in spite of everything.
