Celebrating 1000 followers on this lil app with the launch of my new documentary focused review site, reDocumented. A personal project to not just share my love for docs, but also to re-spark my love and enjoyment of writing without the focus on clicks or money.

Welcome to reDocumented
This is reDocumented, a new features blog where I document the documentaries. It will be an evolving format of short reviews, ideally some long-form pieces, and whatever else I choose to post. A revie...

When I saw D’Angelo’s name mentioned a few times this morning I figured that something had happened. Such a beautiful voice particularly well-suited to the neo-soul sound he helped pioneer. But I agree, this Prince cover was a banger in ‘97 and still is. ‘Scorching’ is the right word here.

D’Angelo’s catalog is filled with classic songs but one of my favorites that doesn’t get talked about much is his scorching cover of Prince’s “She’s Always in My Hair” for the SCREAM 2 soundtrack; a choice needle drop for the opening scene.

Oh, it’s an appalling movie with one of the worst families I’ve ever had the displeasure of watching on screen.

I’d prefer Marvin’s Room over that garbage!

There’s an interview going around about AI, so before there are any questions, let me state unequivocally that BLACK PHONE 2 is 100% organic. AI was not used at any stage of the filmmaking from idea generation, research, look books, writing, onscreen images - anything. We’re old school and love it.

Watching Diane Keaton's 1987 foray into documentary, HEAVEN, was perhaps an odd choice with which to begin my 40s, but, hey, it is what it is. I didn't expect my knowledge of Belinda Carlisle would have come in handy so much!! Wrote up a review for reDocumented: redocumented.ghost.io/doc-rewind-h...
Doc Rewind: Heaven (Diane Keaton, 1987)

I didn't even watch that season of White Lotus, either!

Every time I see this Walter Goggins AI Go Daddy commercial on Tubi, I feel more and more embarrassed for him. He drank his own kool aid (or drug of choice) and now is out there doing cutesy rhyming advertisements for website developers' artificial intelligence software. Big yikes.

This was my big concern about last weekend! People can say they’re coming and then they go and make other plans (hopefully just by mistake) or forget or they didn’t respond to the “let me know!” and so I had to just… have them as a maybe. Facebook’s one good function was the events tab.

I turned 40 today. Spent the day with fam including seeing ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER with mum and dad as the last film of my 30s in the hometown cinema of my youth. It remains a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ film and happily the parents both enjoyed it a lot. They thought it was really well done, funny and smartly written.

Pinched this from the Aussie iconic 90s’ instagram account. What a line-up of Sunday night television over there in Network Ten.
A tv schedule on screen. 6:30pm the nanny 7pm the Simpsons 8pm Seinfeld 8:30pm Sunday night movie death becomes her.

Too many people focusing on the budget of ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER and desperate to label it a “flop”. Firstly, they’re not film lovers—they’re capitalist losers. Secondly, nobody will care in 5 years. It’ll be an Oscar-winning classic in WB’s catalogue that will remain forever culturally relevant.

Jared Leto *is* AI: a tacky thing corporations keep forcing on consumers by putting him in everything even though he’s unprofitable and nobody likes it

This is a great piece on a great woman and her singular on-screen presence.

Totally! It’s complex, which conservatives clearly don’t understand or like.

How much do you reckon Netflix begged and pleaded with Kathryn Bigelow to make A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE into a ten-part series instead? With each episode focusing on a different character. They had to have, right?

I like *several* of Ellis’ books, but this is yet again another dumb opinion from him. Like, yeah, movies are political and can be left or right in those politics and yeah lefties will probably be more attracted to movies like OBAA. What’s the point there, exactly? It’s the text of the movie!

I'm really tired of having to hear from this guy just because some people like Less Than Zero.

A headline that says: 'One Battle After Another' Is A Hit With Critics Because It 'Aligns With A Leftist Sensibility,' Says Bret Easton Ellis: 'There's a Liberal Mustiness To This Movie'

‘Future’ is about how people’s antiquated ideas are keeping them from moving forward in the world. ‘God Control’ is very literally about gun control. “The nation lied, we lost respect / When they talk reforms, it makes me laugh.” The whole album isn’t like it and there are very naff lyrics, but 🤷🏻‍♂️

“Where is the political music for this era?” Madonna released Madame X during the *last* Trump presidency and it’s still relevant. She blatantly addresses society’s cynicism of such things on ‘I Rise’—“Yeah, I know you see the tragic in it.” She even samples X González. youtu.be/eqneqHdELr8?...

Went to Bava’s BLOOD AND BLACK LACE this evening with @stephenarussell.bsky.social and another friend. A man sat down directly next to us and PULLED OUT A PUPPET. He proceeded to have conversations with it with his hand up the puppet’s bum. Life is packing in some last min memories before I turn 40.
