“How is it possible that a peace proposal ignores the ICJ’s July 2024 Advisory Opinion, which reiterated that Israel’s occupation is illegal and must end?

How can it fail to mention Palestinian’s right to self-determination?”

Before it won the 2022 federal election, the Labor Party promised stronger action to curb climate change. Since then, it has approved coal and gas projects that will emit a cumulative 6.5 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide. satpa.pe/Fix1oXv
Labor’s slate for fossil fuel approvals
The Albanese government has already approved 31 fossil fuel projects, and more than that are waiting, even as renewables overtake coal as the top source of electricity.

I like how the news will be like “while the President claiming Portland was ruled by a giant skeleton named Mr Nibbles is not strictly true, it does speak to the anxiety of many Americans”

Between the US govt shutdown, the House shutdown, the stock market crash, the trade war with China, the troops illegally on the quiet streets, the possibility of Epstein files release, the charging of critics, the crumbling economy and the No Kings protests next week…. How long can this hold?

Trump: "AI is based on information. I hope they're right about information. I don't know. You've gotta make a lot of money to-- there's gotta be a lot of information out there, but that seems to be pretty hot. We're leading the world on information on AI."

Funny stuff. Trump’s mad tariff war with China has tanked US tech stocks.
If Congress and the Supreme Court actually adhered to the constitution they would stop him but whatevs.

Censorship by any other name.
The National Press Club cancelled a speaker, Chris Hedges, who planned to address the mass killing of journalists in Gaza. The mainstream press didn’t report it.

The Aust Parliament Sports Club (the one that ditched David Pocock) is now formally registered as a lobby group👇🏽

Anthony Albanese is the President of the Aust Parliament Sports Club.

That means the Prime Minister of Australia is currently the president of a lobby group.

Just utterly unbelievable.

Genocidal war criminal nominates his weapons dealer for the Nobel Peace Prize and our Foreign Minister fawns over it.

Not that the Robodebt investigation has been rectified yet - severe reputational damage to the NACC from stuffing up, and still no results or findings.
nickfeik.bsky.social
Ludicrous. The NACC is supposed to be independent but Brereton keeps working for the ADF while overseeing potential corruption investigations about it?
The Kathryn Campbell conflict wasn't enough to demonstrate how costly and damaging this is? That mistake already cost the NACC $1.2m to rectify.
Corruption watchdog head 'consulted' for ADF inspector general 11 times
Paul Brereton and Labor politicians had previously stated he had stepped away from the body and resigned as assistant inspector-general of the ADF prior to taking on the top integrity job.

Imagine kicking the former national rugby captain out of your sports club instead of the gambling lobby.

To paraphrase Groucho Marx, who'd want to belong to a club that would accept Responsible Wagering Australia as one of its sponsors?

The National Press Club joins a long and sad list of Australian cultural institutions that have surrendered to political pressure (implied or real) and attempted to cancel or censor critics of Israel.

It's a fucking story about journalists cancelling a journalist who wants to inform the public (and other journalists) about the worst mass killing of journalists in history.
Not a media story, though. Rightio.
nickfeik.bsky.social
Still nothing. Hilarious.
Imagine being a media reporter who can't/won't report on this.
nickfeik.bsky.social
BTW this National Press Club story hasn't been reported in any major news outlet yet. Indies like Lamestream, We Used to Be Journos, Pearls and Irritations etc all over it.

And Watt is already admitting it won’t have a climate trigger …
