Trying to keep *one* Starship filled with “10” additional Starship loads will not happen in that timeframe.

I could go on and on about how ridiculous and unnecessary this scheme is.

One of the many problems with this approach is, how do they plan to keep the props superchilled and reduce boiloff? Also, on the ground, SLS and ICPS take over six hours to refill and have to be continuously topped off to stay as full as possible.

Yeah, so if it were only 10…they’re saying they’d need 10 *other* Starship flights just to refuel the *first* Starship parked in LEO.

As someone who knows a little something about cryo loading *on the ground*, I can tell you this is a ridiculously complex and possibly impossible idea.

What are you even talking about?

Starship *is* their lander, which is the wild part.
saxmike71.bsky.social
I’m sure they have a SRD; they wouldn’t have won the bid without one.
saxmike71.bsky.social
About the only thing they have like that are RCS jets for attitude control.
saxmike71.bsky.social
The plan is to have the crew land vertically like in the old sci-fi movies.
saxmike71.bsky.social
The idea is for it to land upright and they really haven't demonstrated that yet (water landings don't count).

Fun fact: The outline you see in the lower left is a walking path in the shape of a shuttle orbiter:

A year ago we launched Clipper towards Europa.
Since then NASA science has been ravaged & threatened by our malevolent administration. By the time Clipper is orbiting Jupiter and sending back precious data we will have different people in power. As perilous as the journey is, that gives me hope.

This is actually the first time I’ve read in clear terms just exactly how the agency plans to use Starship (*multiple* at that) to land astronauts on the Moon. In my informed yet humble opinion, this feat will not be pulled off for a very long time:

Calls for the US to land astronauts back on the moon before China have been increasingly loud and frequent. But it all hinges on SpaceX’s Starship.
