"Jake Sully, we Navi have something we call a "mortgage". It is a kind of arrangement made between a Navi and an organisation we call a "bank", wherein the Navi pays a deposit, and the "bank" issues a loan for the purchase of a property."
"Fascinating. We once had something similar on Earth."

living in the UK for as long as I did gave me a useful concept to describe people like this. We get weird about it in American English, and the Brits win on this one because it is a genuinely helpful term: these people are cunts. They're not motivated by anything other than being cunts. That's it!
Takeaway from that "What Do Gen Z Republicans Think?" piece is not what participants said, but how the publication behind it—City Journal from the Manhattan Institute, the think tank that employs Chris Rufo—summarizes them: Economically comfortable, driven by boredom, see politics as entertainment.

It's iconic how little the girl child character in Jurassic Park knows or cares about dinosaurs.

I know we all like to have a laugh about the unfailingly naff Christmas tree the Norwegians gift to London every year, but it is genuinely an insult and we should burn Oslo to the ground.

I think one of the most fucked up things having access to polls does to our brain is that we start thinking 60% is a huge majority. If a sentiment is shared by 60% of people we're like, "oh yeah, everyone thinks this, this is a fundamental point of consensus", but, like, it's three in five.

I have a couple of books my ex lent me just before we broke up that I want to give back to her, and what I *should* do is text her and arrange to give her the books back, but what I *want* to do is just sneak over to her flat and drop the books in her letterbox without saying anything.
