I reskeet things I like. And, well, things I don’t much like but am glad I learned about. And things that I am infuriated by, and want everyone else to be mad about too. But I try to minimize the latter.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Reminder that "jaywalking" was literally made up by american car manufacturers to shift the blame for accidents from drivers to pedestrians. "Jay" was a slang term meaning "idiot" or "rube".
“Jaywalking is permitted in London. In 1966, the police tried to crack down on it, but gave up after three months.”

People walk and cycle on roads by right, people drive under licence.

Jaywalking is not a thing in English law and Waymo must not change that.

Self-driving taxis are coming to London – should we be worried? | Jack Stilgoe
Waymo’s cars were first rolled out in San Francisco, but the English capital’s old roads, pelican crossings and jaywalkers may pose issues for AI, says science and technology professor Jack Stilgoe

One of the things I want to do this year is start selling art. I thought I'd start small with a Valentine's card. I thought a knotwork anatomical heart would be both pretty and different.

Anyway, here's my cardiologist nightmare fuel, that may or may (k)not become a card.

For us lady scholars, who have been known to critique homogenous male academic cliques and spaces as exclusionary… consider the money and elite networks that ALL these men benefitted from. All because those lady scholars were likely a bit less interested in sexually assaulting 14 year old girls.

It is legitimately shocking that a company's $1.6 trillion valuation is based on 5 cars in Austin, Texas and an unlawful marketing scheme.

Tesla can be summarized as illegal marketing and illegal market manipulation to meet milestones for an illegal executive compensation plan. That's it.

It’s so heavy when you are going to get groceries and you find a car sitting with its windows broken out and it’s empty but still running and someone’s stuffed animals or pictures or papers are just laying all over the road. I have personally seen at least five of these in the last three days alone
ICE's decision to just leave cars abandoned in the roads is one of those dystopian things that makes you recoil in shock when you encounter it.
A legal asylum-seeker who works at Chipotle and plays music at a church in Maine went missing. His pastor searched and searched, eventually finding his abandoned car with the keys on the floor.

ICE grabbed him. No criminal record. No explanation.

DHS has a whole citizen detainment system set up in Minnesota. They snatch citizens off the street (often with proof they are citizens), detain them for a few hours, steal their phones, then release them into the cold.

It ain’t about deporting citizens; it’s about terrorizing a whole population.
‘Abolish ICE’ has become an increasingly popular position and people are being shot in the streets over it why the fuck would you dillweeds roll over like this. Especially given that citizenship is much more friable than people think it is this is not as protective as dems want it to look.

As a baby mushroom you know it as the cheap white button mushroom, as a kid mushroom it's called a cremini, as an adult it's called a portabella.

Same mushroom.

If Congress refuses to dissolve the agency that was only created ≈ 25 years ago, fine. But officers can't have weapons anymore. No firearms, tasers, chemical munitions, flashbangs, billy clubs, pepper spray, NOTHING. You're a glorified process server, you don't need weapons.
Someone said this before, and I agree -- an honest-to-god effective "reform" would be to require them all to wear day glo pink uniforms at all times. Every single item they wear has to be day glo pink. And they all have to dye their hair pink. If you won't do that, you're fired.

How? How do you double-check the accuracy, if you're not already an expert? Ask a different GenAI? Or do you, you know... Have to go and do the research you would have done anyway, pre-AI? Because I'm buggered if I can think of how you do that in a way where the GenAI saved you time.
