I had a coworker who buried a child with cystic fibrosis. My cousin has a breast cancer gene. My kid inherited life threatening food allergies.

And I don't know how our capitalist society and profit based medicine can give us those life saving cures without commercializing eugenics.
“Nonono, it’s not eugenics it’s just empowering us to select in children the traits we prefer.”

Eugenicists have tried this rebrand. They adopted the term “reprogenetics” and argued that because it’s being done to genes directly, treating human like cattle to be bred for certain traits is fine.
His “it’s not a eugenics company” tee is raising questions already answered by his shirt. www.cbsnews.com/news/nucleus...

Had to interrupt the Mighty Hunter on the patio last night. Pretty sure it was a southern toad not a cane toad, but my 🐸 identification is wobbly at best.

Australia, where the blue tongue skinks just... let themselves into your house? 🦎
I hadn’t seen any lizards bust in from outside to steal cat food in so long that I started thinking perhaps they forgot how. Nope! An old friend from a year ago let itself inside today

A large chunk of the money that goes into food allergy research in the US is due to the fact that one of the Koch brothers has a kid with multiple food allergies.

Which means how the money gets spent isn't determined by scientists but by the Koch family in (I imagine) a Shark Tank type fashion.
My hot take is that I do not like it when politicians do a thing, particularly if it’s completely unrelated policy, just because It Happened To Me, Personally

You all know where I stand on these issues but I get the same feeling of instant revulsion when someone is suddenly pro gay rights because…

The thing that honestly has me upset about the whole "Nuzzi hot for geriatric presidential candidates" is that she was actually doing the things that the vile gamergate "ethics in video games journalism" trolls accused their innocent victims of doing.

And then she was published bragging about it.

Orlando still has strong feelings about the Pulse shooting, and I hope that Orlando juries will follow DC and Chicago juries' examples.

Today I drove past a random anti Trump demonstration on US19. On a Monday afternoon. Florida isn't red; it's vote suppressed. And it's bubbling.

This is a corollary of "fascism and domestic abuse are the same thing at different scales" that I'm going to need to think about some more.
My grandmother (degrees etc) pinpointed a REAL problem for Dems: In an abusive addict society, people who are abused often want to Identify WITH the abusive parent (Gov) in order to be on the "winning", ie non-abused side. It's a model of abuse, not real winning. We need to account for this
