Awesome big day out with @londongreenparty.bsky.social in Penge and Peckham with teams knocking so many doors.

Massive energy from new and long-time members and huge thanks to the people behind the scenes who organised data, clipboards, badges and leaflets to make the day work well. #HopeisHere

Regent Street in London is traffic-free today. They’re just setting up now. If anyone is here later, when it’s in full swing, do please post photos.

Green Party London Assembly Members stand strong against the Home Secretary’s cruel new asylum plans.

Migrants aren’t the cause of inequality, the housing shortage or cuts to services, and they shouldn’t be treated as scapegoats.

We reject reforms that replace compassion with conditionality.

Blimey in answer to a question at Islington Full Council about dog fouling, we are hearing that fines up to £1000 are being considered for dog fouling.

Not sure £1000 fines will fix the dog poo problem. Perhaps install some more bins?

As an ex President of a WI I am so sad about the news, I can't see why this had to happen, 40 years transwomen have been fully welcomed as members, with sisterly solidarity and love. Sad and angry this had to change. Why a group can't just say we're alright ta, leave us as we are, it's no problem?

It is so sad to see new exclusionary policies from Girlguiding, where trans girls had been so included before.

The Woodcraft Folk is a brilliant, inclusive, non-segregated alternative for young people seeking fun, adventure and community!

The Justice Secretary is not considering:

Girl Guides have been a beacon of inclusion and a ray of hope that hatred of LGBT+ people is not really as widespread as it feels.

Gender critical bullying of inclusive institutions by threat of litigation is cheap, harmful and utterly poisonous.

Thinking of the parents & young people affected. 🏳️‍⚧️
The Girl Guide announcement.

What can I say?

I’m imagining if it was my child - the conversations and explanations, the apologies, “I’m sorry, so sorry,” trying to comfort but feeling a failure because I couldn’t protect her from GC hate.

And the child and parents - a little bit more broken.

Not so fast Human Forest! Car clubs play an important role in reducing car use and ownership. Maybe Zipcar can be rescued or replaced?

Totally up for normal parking bays to be repurposed for dockless hire bikes.

We can have both.

I wonder what all those developments with planning conditions to have a Zip car type system will do.
December 2, 2025 at 9:06 AM
Realise I was not a great Zip car business prospect. Used it four times last year and my partner booked it about ten times.

The point of Zip Car is to use a car as little as possible but to enable car use for trips that are properly hard without a car so you feel no pressure to own one.
The BBC says Zip Car has more than 550,000 London members.

That’s 550,000 people who aim to drive as little as possible, but rely on a car club for tricky trips that don’t work by public transport.

TfL is this risky for future levels of car ownership and driving?

On World AIDS Day, we remember everyone we have lost and look forward to more progress.

We can become the first country to achieve no new HIV transmissions by 2030.

I am pleased to see Govt action on at-home and automatic testing, and support for those out of contact with life-saving treatment.

Southwark News has picked up on the desperate need to reduce the numbers of people killed and injured on our roads.

Bereaved families and Londoners with life changing injuries are paying the unacceptable price of systemic danger on our roads.

“That’s for someone else”
**Well you won’t be no good getting rid of capitalism if you can’t get rid of that traffic!**

Gryatories are bad for everyone, pedestrians & cyclists due to the extra speed of cars; and also drivers because "crossing streams" is very stressful.
Lots in London have gone and all of the places are better for it.
