1) Alcohol IS A DRUG
2) Drugs are really accessible now & dealers dont ask for ID to check ages
3) legally regulating drugs means access based on risk e.g. licensed venues or through health professionals with safeguards

It is about getting control of an out of control, harmful market.

Use of facial recognition has increased rapidly but there is currently no legal framework or proper regulation for its use.

Many have highlighted issues now Home Office admits bias.

European countries have minimised use but UK has charged ahead.

Must stop & review.

We need a whole new way to build homes, because this system is failing. Private developers have made £18 billion off the housing emergency in the last 20 years while more and more Londoners are stuck in temporary accommodation.

What this article doesn't say is that a new dealer will replace this one & often the supply becomes more violent after police operations like this.

This isnt the answer.

Legally regulating drugs is the only way to keep people safe.

London’s Black led youth organisations are doing powerful work supporting and uplifting young people in their community, but they’re struggling without proper funding. Most of their work is happening with little to no sustained support.

Councils like Hackney are being asked to deliver more with less every single year, while the cost of living continues to rise.

This budget must be a turning point & must address inequality.

I've written to the Chancellor outlining what Hackney needs.

Building of no affordable homes started in Hackney since April.

We need more government funding & must transform a broken housing market dominated by a cartel of greedy developers, which is bankrupting councils, inflating land values and making desperately needed social housing harder to build.

Thank you to everyone at the Faith Tabernacle Chruch of God (Dalston) for such a moving divine worship. A wonderful community. Was so special to spend the time together. Still thinking of those waiting to hear from family in Jamaica. 💚🇯🇲

Queen’s Market in Upton Park isn’t just a place to shop, it’s where community happens 💚

We can’t afford to lose spaces like this to another round of “development.” If we want to invest in this city, we need to invest in its people and protect spaces like these, not build more unaffordable towers.

1/4 UK 2024 drug overdose death statistics were released today and AGAIN the numbers have gone up. Alarmingly, there was a 400% rise in deaths due to nitazenes. The harm reduction community has been warning that a nitazene crisis is coming but gov't is still blocking overdose prevention measures.

Drug deaths are still increasing. London has seen the biggest increase of any region. Every death is someone's child, parent, friend.

What more evidence is needed that our drug laws are not keeping people safe?

My heart goes out to everyone impacted.
