It's great to meet all theses amazing new people. I thought I would introduce myself with a little thread. I’m a Green Party activist and a Patient safety manager in the NHS. I’m married and we have two miniature schnauzers! I’m here mostly to chat about politics.

Mate, I underestimated you. When you brought it up on Question time, I thought it didn't really land. Wow, was I wrong! Absolutely catastrophic damage inflicted! Well done. This could be the narrative that dogs them for years.

More than half a million people marched for Palestine in central London yesterday.

As long as Israel continues to oppress the Palestinians, we will continue to resist them.

The Greens have four MPs and over 850 councillors. Since then our polling has more than doubled, we are getting unprecedented media coverage and got our highest membership ever.
A couple of points swing in our favour will see us take dozens of seats from Labour.
edpoole1975.bsky.social
Sounds reasonable to me
edpoole1975.bsky.social
The Greens have never used the media. This is the first time in history we've had access to it. We work on the ground and our ground game is unstoppable where it is resourced properly.
The Greens are the only leftwing party outside Labour to actually have a winning formula. But it takes work.
edpoole1975.bsky.social
We do need one. We need enough to stop Reform getting one. Labour seats are falling like dominoes. It's just a question of who to.
edpoole1975.bsky.social
I still need my sheets from 1998 okay! Just because I haven't used them since 2004 doesn't mean I won't ever!
edpoole1975.bsky.social
Reform are going to form the next government unless the left outside Labour stops them. As it stands only the Green party presents any obstacle to Farage and number 10.
edpoole1975.bsky.social
I think the logical thing to do is for Your party to focus on seats where the Greens aren't currently organised. But that might be a hard sell to them.
edpoole1975.bsky.social
We can and are doing at a local level. No reason we can't at constituency level if we get organised in some of those areas.

I have no idea what Your party's strategy is at the moment.

But we both have finite resources so will hopefully work something out so we aren't splitting votes.
edpoole1975.bsky.social
I'm glad someone spotted that!
edpoole1975.bsky.social
We just won a ward in Manchester that was described tome as overwhelmingly "white working class" containing one of the biggest housing estates in Europe. If we put in the work the Greens can win any type of seat.
edpoole1975.bsky.social
Absolutely but he has had Reform corruption in the headlines for the last few days on just a few minutes on Question time. Some of the policies he has to now argue for were decided less than a week ago so there is more to learn but I think it's been a great start.

We can't win together if you exclude trans people and their allies (pretty much everyone under 40 on the left).
An injury to one is an injury to all.Without basic solidarity we are doomed.
edpoole1975.bsky.social
Labour are in decline and losing by-election after by-election to Reform. The Greens aren't, we are holding our existing seats and winning new ones. We will probably be ahead of Labour and the Tories in the polls pretty soon.

If the next election is a two horse race it will be Reform vs Green.
edpoole1975.bsky.social
Yes, it's obviously not something that was a read line in the past. And as you point out they seem to have other issues than should be redlines that they seem to be treating "pragmatically". NATO seems like a rationalisation for what they are doing rather than the reason.

Loud, Clear and Unambiguous

🏳️‍⚧️ Trans rights are human rights.

And I love the idea of our cities, our country even, as an inclusive, intersectional sanctuary for everyone who is marginalised, minoritised, and racialised.

There’s work to be done.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

I don't think it's about gamers. You get similar stuff in superhero films and sci fi adaptations. Since gamer agte it's been a front in the "culture wars".
They don't care about the media they want to make young men angry and right wing.

Absolutely fantastic news today, I'm proud to welcome councillor Toby Benton, who left the labour party to join the Greens today.

Welcome home, Cllr Benton.

One of the many things I wish I had been wrong about is saying that back in the nineties, our leaders looked at climate change and said: We can’t do shit about this without measures we find unacceptable, so future generations will just have to deal with it via machine guns, fences and attack dogs.

Our leaders have known about climate change for decades. What have you seen that makes you think any of them didn’t choose the answer “keep going as normal, and blow up the boats full of refugees”

Glad to see Nigel Farage has finally remembered Nathan Gill, former leader of Reform in Wales - found guilty of taking bribes from Russia.

Maybe he'll now remember how much he took from Putin's propaganda broadcaster Russia Today for all his TV appearances when he was a MEP?
