The land it is the landlord's, the trader's is the sea, the ore the usurer's coffer fills, but what remains for me?
"I understand the decision of RTE.. there are 2 groups.. among many who acted extremely brave during the war in Gaza, the medical community & journalists, & this is an act of solidarity with those journalists who were killed"

"There is a ceasefire in Gaza and therefore this action is the wrong thing"

Lib Dem leader Ed Davey hiding behind the pretend 'ceasefire' (which is the point of it) & saying its wrong for countries to boycott Eurovision. Pathetic. Supporting BDS is the very least anyone can do

"Israels broadcaster said they feel the attempt to remove them [from Eurovision] amounts to a cultural boycott"

Yep that's exactly what it is. And alongside a cultural boycott of Israel there should be a sporting boycott, an academic boycott, and more! Back BDS

Compare and contrast

RTE: Irelands participation remains unconscionable given the appalling loss of lives in Gaza, the humanitarian crisis there & the targeting and killing of journalists

BBC: we need to be inclusive

@adilray.bsky.social asks Alison McGovern if we should apply the same rules and sanctions against Israel that we do with Russia

McGovern dodges the question about sanctions on Israel & instead says the govt is straining every sinew to make them effective against Russia.
December 5, 2025 at 9:00 AM
Govt minister Alison McGovern says yes, she's worried about super rich individuals donating huge amounts of money to politicians.

If only you were in a position to do something about it, eh? #GMB

December 5, 2025 at 8:29 AM
The EBU dropped plans for a vote on excluding Israel because of the ceasefire

This is the point of the pretend ceasefire. Not to stop the genocide but to allow countries & organisations to more easily resist calls to put pressure on Israel & to reverse actions already taken
December 5, 2025 at 8:22 AM
Alison McGovern says the govt is tackling the problem of thousands of families stuck in b&b accommodation & shes asked, what are you announcing today to deal with that?

"money. Councils have been underfunded for more than a decade.. we've got a specific fund of £8m"

£8 million!

The warmongering continues, this time with Ray Mears (what?), who tells us the UK isn't ready for war with Russia and we should have compulsory national service.
December 5, 2025 at 7:59 AM
Alison McGovern says the issue of Israel competing in Eurovision is up to the EBU & not a decision for govt.

Ever wondered where politicians like McGovern would have been on the cultural & sporting boycott of apartheid South Africa? Wonder no more. Nothing to do with me, guv
December 5, 2025 at 7:50 AM
Alison McGovern is asked, if scrapping the two child cap makes such a difference to kids in poverty, why didn't you do it last year?

McGovern says the govt had to work out the best things to do. Except the effect of the cap & what scrapping it would achieve was already known.
December 5, 2025 at 7:40 AM
@faizashaheen.bsky.social on #GMB: its not the fault of kids they are growing up in poverty, & lifting them out of poverty means they'll have better outcomes in life. Faiza goes on to argue the govt should be taxing the super rich more & making childcare & baby formula cheaper for everyone
December 5, 2025 at 7:29 AM
@adilray.bsky.social asks, is it right that people who benefit from the govt and public contracts donate huge amounts of money to politicians?

No its not. In other countries we happily call it corruption #GMB

@adilray.bsky.social : "A lot of people think.. taking the right moral position when we can see children dying is the right thing to do"

Yesterday the organisers of Eurovision prevented a vote on whether Israel should be excluded. Four countries then announced that as Israel would be included they'd boycott the event - Ireland, Slovenia, The Netherlands and Spain.
