If you make something popular enough eventually you will die or sell it off and and a person in thick rimmed glasses whose main artistic vision is that he loves to have meetings will take it and sandblast it until it's nothing. I hate to see this happen here but maybe it's good that this happened. Maybe every franchise should collapse into a version of itself that makes shareholders nod and shake each others' hands. We should learn to speak in a language that rich people who don't dream can't comprehend.

(The church isn’t even named after him, and his skull isn’t even the most famous thing in there. That trophy goes to the Bocca Della Verità, the old Roman drain cover propped against a wall. Legend says if you put your hand in there and don’t tell la verità - the truth - it will snap shut on you.)

I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

That's not the case, for any number of possible reasons.

Last day of Red Door Cafe in its current location. It’s only moving up the street (into bigger & more modern premises the staff are excited about) but it’s still bittersweet to say goodbye to a space I really loved for five years. I’ll especially miss this amazing free-handed mural by Theo Tannis
