Yet another example of "Trump thinks he is king, entitled to power, and not President, accountable to the people."
Trump: "Is Trump in good health? I sit here, I do four news conferences a day. I ask questions from very intelligent lunatics -- you people. I give the right answers. There's never a scandal. There's never a problem. I give you answers that solve your little problems."

A +14 shift to the Dems in a very red district applied nationwide next year means a solidly blue House and a chance to retake the Senate against an extremely unfavorable map.

A recap of tonight's special election in TN-07 (plus a WAY-TOO-EARLY model of the 2026 midterms).

A swing of 13 points would put Dems over 250 seats in the U.S. House. A more reasonable scenario—say, D+6—still gives them the House, and maybe the Senate.

What the special election in Tennessee's Seventh District means for the 2026 midterms
Republicans held a Trump +22 seat — but by only 9 points. A swing half as large would give Democrats the U.S. House in 2026, and put the Senate clearly in play

The sourcing in the quoted article is all like "unconfirmed watchdog reports" or "some guys said".

Unclear what really happened, but it matters that Obama definitely did not take a posture of "yeah I double-tapped them and I'll do you too if you keep whining about it"

No, this is a stupid comparison. The issue isn't "hitting the same target twice is not ok" - it absolutely can be. It's "hitting survivors of the first attack who are hors de combat and clinging to a destroyed ship is a war crime"

Cosmically funny that, the American public has had less than a year of uncut republican governance, and they’ve decided that they absolutely hate this shit, spit it out

This kind of stuff is enraging but it’s also fucking repulsive. Like it should make everyone’s skin crawl to hear someone say something like this. Nobody in their right mind should want to come within earshot of Gutfeld after hearing shit like this.

One of my Internet lukewarm hot takes is that having a strong negative reaction to Pluto's classification is incompatible with with being pro science and all the left/right/crunchy that goes with that
the closest analogy to this for most Americans I think is 'how did you feel when it was decided Pluto wasn't a planet any more'

Never forget that for a hot minute there, legacy news media regarded Megyn Kelly as someone they could successfully parlay into being a "respectable conservative" figure within their ranks
Megyn Kelly on alleged war crimes: "I really do kind of not only wanna see them killed in the water, whether they're on the boat or in the water, but I'd really like to see them suffer. I would like Trump and Hegseth to make it last a long time so they lose a limb and bleed out."

I want us to hang on to the fact that the people who were murdered were just civilians out in boats, most likely fishermen, who had never even heard the sketchy conclusions of American officials for which they were executed, much less had a chance to defend themselves.

Agree with this take. But the fact betting markets have a D in an R+22 district at 15% on election day is a five alarm fire for a national election read-through. Binary outcome is less important than the margin and Republicans know this very well.
I expect the Republicans to win that Tennessee congressional seat tonight and the reason I think they're panicking is that the internal polls have Van Epps under 50%. Just a guess.

Drug trafficking is not an act of war. This whole idea that these boats can kill millions of Americans is fantasy land. It's based on a fake statistic about fentanyl. And they're not going to the US and they're not carrying fentanyl.
It's great that reporting on the double tap has spotlighted the abject criminality of this Administration.

But don't forget: Venezuela is not waging war on America or Americans, and the men killed were not combatants.

The first strike was every bit as illegal as the second.

Nick Fuentes has been working overtime to sanitize his image and present himself as a uniter of the left and right. Very clearly using language often associated with the left.

This is part of a larger effort by the anti-Zionist antisemitic far right to recruit people on the left.

Aaaaaand…this is exactly why the six lawmakers needed to remind servicemembers about not obeying unlawful orders (this will get driven home when Hegseth gets a pardon but no one else does)
NYT:
Five officials told us that Hegseth had nothing to do with the second strike

Washpost (which broke the story 2 days ago):
“This is ‘protect Pete’ bullshit,”
and
“It’s throwing us, the service members, under the bus.”

Pete Hegseth stands behind our troops and behind Admiral Mitch Bradley - juuuuuuuust far enough behind to make sure they go to jail instead of him for the illegal strike that Pete Hegseth ordered.

Here for the tough man talk, gone for the tough many consequences. Profiles in cowardice.

Leftists think that no leftward progress has been made in the past few decades so they're blind to how APOCALYPTIC the last few decades have been for the right.

This is why leftist analysis of the right fails. They attribute everything to "economic anxiety" instead of bigots seeing their world end.
This is the crux of the bargain white ppl made voting for trump & the gop. "Rid us of brown ppl & make white ppl the majority again & we will sacrifice our jobs, savings, homes, and even children." They 💯 factored in those losses & decided it was worth it. That's why nothing else he does matters

There's this bit in What Dreams May Come where Robin Williams's daughter (played by Jessica Brooks Grant) is defacing the wall in a children's hospital, I think, drawing a stream of urine from a cherub with a yellow crayon.

When he objects "That's someone's art," she replies, "you weren't looking."
