I think a lot of well meaning good government types should be thinking closely about Peter Mandelson, and how dangerous it is for a politician to earn enough to give them a taste for yachts, but not enough to afford a yacht of their own.

You know what's gonna happen, is "Coldplay" will become a verb, like "they got coldplayed," and the word will outlive the legacy of the band so it'll become this weird origin story you find in trivia lists, like the Earl of Sandwich or Thomas Crapper.

i) Take a trip to the mountains.
ii) Spend some time in a cooling cave.
iii) Find an underground lake.
iv) Get undressed.
v) Hunt the silvery fish and eat them raw.

Here’s something that does my head in: the VAT-on-private-schools thing will raise about £1.5bn in 2026. That’s… lots? But governmentally it’s kinda not a lot (UK GDP is roughly £2.6tn). The tax is right, but I’m pretty sure the money isn’t the main point.
