While the Trump–Mamdani meeting “went well,” in the sense that Trump behaved himself and even seemed strangely protective, this could be even more dangerous for Mamdani’s political future than an outright feud between them: it forces a tone of reconciliation, which will only alienate Mamdani’s base.
