I am a broken record about this, but if you're in a Signal group chat, be aware the comms may be shared with someone else. Set disappearing messages, vet group members, protect yourself & each other. If it's too sensitive, talk in person with no phones. Secure comms pan (generic) here:

Friendly reminder that dishwashers made after 1995 or so are so water and energy efficient that even if you ran them twice fully loaded it would still use less water than handwashing the same load.

So many "green" things feel like sacrifices. Dishwashers are not one of them.

we should reject waymo on the basis of supporting labor in minnesota, where uber and lyft drivers fought to score a statewide minimum wage! and don't forget that lyft contributed $10,000 to all of mpls this year to reelect mayor frey and get a city council allied with him. they are making moves
This, 1,000x this. I've been harping about Waymo being anti-worker and yet another way to funnel money upwards to the elite/oligarchs, and people react like I'm nuts. (It's also why I never use self-checkouts.)
and this is why waymo is a labor issue, not a tech issue! it's going to be taking money out of the pockets of rideshare drivers and putting it solely in the hands of big tech

Fascists want you to starve, by the way. Images like the one I’ve shared on my page help them. This is part of the propaganda.

And that set is no exception.
How far right uses thinness to radicalise women and girls
The far right has normalised much of its ideology within mainstream politics – and ‘body fascism’ is part of that

hassle induced by someone else's shame is still something one can work with!
Important to understand that shame has no power over these people, because they feel no shame over doing things like promoting Nazism, but sufficient "noise" in the form of media attention and complaints from embarrassed Republicans can have some effect on policy.

In reversal, Coast Guard again classifies swastikas, nooses as hate symbols
The new order came hours after The Post reported the service would instead classify such symbols as “potentially divisive” under guidelines set for release next month.

EVERY SINGLE

CASH PROGRAM

LIKE THIS

WORKS
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

Volume 1 focuses on interoceptive hyposensitivity, which is a sensory processing difference where a person has reduced or muted awareness of their body's internal signals.

I have a fun hypothetical for the technical among us! (For certain values of fun, heh.) The scenario: You run a website. It doesn't have a mobile app: the only way to access it is in-browser. You are deeply, morally opposed to any form of invasive tracking or data-gathering on your users.

Three months after insurance fuckery forced me to trash-panda diet my A1C back up to the magic 6.5 threshold for them to cover the GLP-1 prescription, we tested again yesterday and it's at 5.5, the lowest it's been in years (since we also increased my dosage). It's almost like the drugs work!

So much this.

*stares at technoutopian imaginaries of American culture*

👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
Americans believe science and tech can do anything without having any idea what their actual, realistic limitations are, or what it takes to make that work happen. They confuse the movies and TV with reality. It takes *both* the humanities, the social sciences, and better STEM education to fix that.

Read this thread up and down, and then do it again.

I am not on GLP-1.

But I have friends who are, and I have had to be there, hold their hands, and say, "This was never about willpower. This proves there was a MEDICAL thing wrong. It is shit you were made to feel it was only about willpower."
the GLP-1 corrected the metabolic disorder, and I started losing weight.

And that was the worst blow to my mental health in my entire life.

I am still made of rage over it. Doctors shamed me my entire life and called me a liar and ignored my actual problems and they were ALL. FUCKING. WRONG.

People who say "we're wolves not sheep" have never seen two ewes trying to murder each other over relative status in the flock before they give birth, and then all their friends and family picking sides because being friends with the winner will raise THEIR status, until there is a massive brawl
Revenge/physical combat was how people settled things for literally millions of years, it's normal human behavior, we're wolves not sheep, the government project trying to social engineer us and domesticate us into sheep has been unsuccessful
