Hi. I'm Matt. Nice to meet you. Watches, tech, music, books, cars, cats, and sometimes bikes. Be excellent to each other. Twin Cities, MN. Shameless plug: Check out https://www.manontime.com
Has Frey been the most ineffectual, "Please clap!" cringe-inducing mayor the city has ever had?
You have summoned the legendary banger I will always repost at the slightest excuse (from Frey’s former staffer and All of Mpls exec director)

You’ve just died.
6th picture in your gallery is what killed you.

Makes sense.

It's possibly not a stretch to say @mayorcarter.bsky.social is OK with his subordinates (SPPD) targeting journalists as well as assaulting and spraying members of the public.
Carter said he stood by the city's police department, and Police Chief Axel Henry maintained his department did not violate the city’s separation ordinance.

Carter said Henry has begun a full review of the use of force during Tuesday’s response.

I had an injection into my right eyeball at HCMC this morning. What a thoroughly strange experience.

Road Report: Made it from CR to HCMC in the usual amount of time. Roads (ERR, Marshall, Hennepin, etc) moderately cleared, traffic light; possibly a combination of the weather and the holiday. #mnwx

I'm going to make cranberry sauce tomorrow, and I'll probably be the only one to eat it on #Thanksgiving. Everyone else either doesn't like it, or prefers the canned stuff. I get it, the canned stuff slaps, so no hurt feelings. Plus more homemade sauce for me!

I ventured to the grocery store this afternoon. What with Thanksgiving knocking on the door, and Old Man Winter making an appearance you would think the world was coming to an end.

The only bad pie is the one I'm not eating.

I'm going to be irrationally PISSED if we get nothing.

Will it finally be time to put the snowbrush in the trunk? #mnwx

Not that you asked, but here's a thread of intriguing (real!) food facts to amuse/bore your friends and family.

Great for gatherings when you need to change the subject!

Since the holidays are upon us: Who makes a good #fruitcake in the Cities?

Growing up it was turkey and mashed potato with a lot of Ukrainian dishes such as varenyky, holubtsi, studenetz, and kutia, among others.

As an adult, I usually prepare ham or some kind of roast along with a mixture of Ukrainian and Armenian (spouce's heritage) sides.
Christmas Eve is Cecil’s pastrami or roast beef and russian rye sandwiches with various toppings (been a tradition in my dad’s side of the family for two or three generations now?)

Christmas Day is usually ham and various sides. I think my mom said this year we are doing some kind of roast steak?
it fascinates me how most everyone in the U.S. does turkey for Thanksgiving, but we are all over the map as to what we eat for Christmas (as is proper for a hugely diverse nation).

I come from a Christmas prime rib roast family, myself.

People with higher incomes, and therefore higher levels of assets and savings, have an easier time?! This is my shocked face: 😐
How are you doing economically? The answer depends on how much money you make.

Look at these fuckin' smoothbrains. I'd put good money down that they secretly masturbate to transgender porn.

My father raked his yard maybe once a fall. "Leaf them alone! They're good for the grass and the bees!" was pretty usual for him to say.

He also had the best lawn in the neighborhood. Coincidence? I want to think not.

It's a record album kind of Sunday, and yes the rotation is heavy with holiday music.

"Bipartisan"! Drink!
I presented Pope Leo XIV with the bipartisan resolution I introduced with Senator Smith honoring the victims, survivors, & heroes of the Annunciation Catholic Church shooting.

This, 1,000x this. I've been harping about Waymo being anti-worker and yet another way to funnel money upwards to the elite/oligarchs, and people react like I'm nuts. (It's also why I never use self-checkouts.)
and this is why waymo is a labor issue, not a tech issue! it's going to be taking money out of the pockets of rideshare drivers and putting it solely in the hands of big tech
As a QA person, I would be more comfortable in a Waymo than any other vehicle that promised any sort of autonomy.

They trained on some of the more difficult streets in the nation, and now they are broadening out to see what other factors affect the reliability and safety of their operation.
