How would you react to being handed a free transit voucher?

How would the distance between transit fare & interaction with fare enforcement (& therefore law enforcement) impact anything else about you/your life?

Maybe that's how one calibrates their level of privilege these days.

That 1st person I'd noticed looked on HIGH guard when I approached & excused myself.

But when I offered 2 of my 3 last vouchers, they reacted like I'd come off the street & handed them a fucking rare gem.

They deliberated how BEST to use this ✨1✨ ride voucher while I got on the next train.

...None of these ideas are enough. No art project is ever going to be the magic key to stopping this. But no one thing ever will be. It takes lots of people, being creative, contributing where and how they are able, sometimes in unseen/unappreciated ways, to move the needle. That includes artists.

So many people tried explaining this to folks, & even tried "strong mayor/wrong mayor" messaging to indicate "this is only a good thing if you like every mayor, therefore, it is bad"

Similar to what @dansuitor.bsky.social was saying re: free speech/kupchella - broad brush/bad law -type situation.

Increasing stories of stuff like this brings back the strong mayor memories. Critics like me and John raised the concern that the Mayor would simply refuse to implement the council’s decisions. Strong Mayor backers assured us that would never happen.

If I’m reading Kyle right, Frey admits failing to issue 100 housing vouchers *that are funded this year because he wants to kill the program next year.* (This is not Stable Schools, but for single folks.) This is unallotment Trump-style, especially since county/MPHA are in.
