For Day 9 #ArtAdventCalendar evening. Some anamorphic chalk art of the Mars Curiosity rover (the 3d doesn't translate as well in an image)

It's about 30 feet long

Feds defended Trump’s January wind order as “temporary,” pending a review of wind farm permitting.

The “review” likely did not exist.

The judge slammed fed lawyers for saying the review is “underway” but failing to provide proof. A former fed employee told me that no review had started as of May.
Judge strikes down Trump’s order blocking wind farm approvals
A coalition of 18 attorneys general prevail in their lawsuit, saying Trump's freeze will raise their states' energy costs and jeopardize climate goals.

A huge night for Democrats:

—They flip Miami's mayorship.
—They flip a state House district in Georgia that had voted Trump by 13%.
—They keep Albuquerque's mayorship, while the liberal faction flips city council.
—And they get big overperformances (+18 & +22) in 2 Florida specials.

i think all the time about how trump is one of the most singular, atypical people in america, whose entire life experience, going back at least him as a teenager, is so profoundly different from and unrelatable to almost anyone, including his own social class peers
something you have to understand about Trump & his weird comments about the economy is that the dude hasn't paid for anything like a normal person in decades - never pumps gas, never buys groceries - so he's completely & utterly out of touch with what life is like for most of us

Just a pretty consistent D+13 over performance especially in the “higher” profile races
DEMOCRATS HAVE FLIPPED GEORGIA'S #HD121 (Trump+12):

Eric Gisler (D)- 50.9%
Mack "Dutch" Guest (R)- 49.1%

Given just the risks to the economy, D+12 would probably be pretty charitable for Republicans by November 2026.
D+13.3 shift from 2024, meaning about a D+12 implied national environment. Even half of that is gigantic for Dems

Nothing says "bespoke weapon" like a fighter jet that we've built 1200 of and plan to build +3000 total. Also "more time in maintenance than in the air" describes literally every military aircraft.

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:
His truth is marching on.
WHICH MESSAGE WILL RESONATE WITH DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY VOTERS?

"Better angels of our nature"

OR

"Behold, the day of the Lord comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger... I will punish the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pomp of the arrogant, and lay low the pomp of the ruthless."
Once again, for 2028 I'm a single issue voter and that issue is post-Trump lustration. GTFO with "better angels of our nature" for once.

on one hand Latinos reacting to Trump II as national prop 187 is good for building a new progressive coalition

the bad part is that it likely means that the administration doubles down on backsliding and racism
We had some early signs that Latino voters may be shifting toward Dems in far greater numbers than white voters in districts like TN-07 and this may be the dam breaking
Hey it’s not even close

“Our alliance with xenophobes and racists will allow us to create a more liberal immigration system” was a real thing people convinced themselves
The post-Brexit immigration system is also indicative of the liberal Brexiteer tendency, which I was a part of, which saw increased non-EU migration as a good thing and basically saw nativist leavers as useful idiots
