I think when you break it down microscopically like this, it becomes very clear that the second thing - the chatter - has FAR greater impact on your perception of the economy.

Which do remember more: all the stuff your friends are saying, or whether your groceries cost two dollars more or less?
"I lost my job." "I got a raise." "I bought some milk today." - These are direct economic experiences.

"I'm hearing a lot of chatter from my friends about how expensive groceries are getting and how tight this is making their budgets..." - That's mediated information from outside sources.

Good reminder that Trump was guilty of an egregious crime simply in Georgia, let alone the rest of the country, and should have served a significant stint in prison. www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/...

Nothing demonstrates a manly, warrior ethos like throwing your admiral under the bus.
One way you can tell the warrior ethos stuff is bullshit is that someone with an actual ethos wouldn't be afraid of being held responsible for his actions.

Due to outdated privacy laws, the Trump administration can easily turn powerful surveillance tools against anyone and everyone, with scant safeguards. Now, ICE says that it plans to make this risk a reality for the swath of Americans who oppose the president’s agenda. bit.ly/3Kq348R

Whether this was random street crime or targeted political violence, I think it was bad for the president to unnecessarily put the National Guard in harm’s way like this. They simply don’t need to be there.
