The rule and other USG analyses acknowledge the new rule will lower the rate for foreign workers.

But the Labor Dept thinks the move will encourage employers to hire an estimated 119,000 more workers legally and generate roughly $200 million in annual economic benefits.

👉US law allows companies to hire foreign workers through temporary visas when they can’t fill jobs with US applicants.

👉Citizens of ~90 countries are eligible.

👉To obtain them, the would-be employer must demonstrate it can't find US workers for the job and that the pay won't depress US wages.
