“Conservatives […] see trans people as an outgrowth of a too liberal society, they have a longstanding grudge with universities existing in the first place, and they see Democrats with a squishy spine when it comes to standing up for trans people in public.”

Oklahoma University has placed a grad student instructor on admin leave for failing a psychology paper on gender for citing *the Bible* as a source of empirical evidence.

In response, OU has placed on instructor on admin leave citing, get this, the FIRST AMENDMENT.

It is worth remembering that these are people who loyally fought alongside us for 20 years while Miller was enduring the harrowing experience of writing press releases
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

Mark Carney managed to trade a pipeline that will never get built for meaningful progress on industrial carbon pricing and electricity interties — both of which will get more wind and solar built.

Once again, folks: any deal between Alberta and Ottawa that requires a) BC's approval, and b) significant support from coastal First Nations is a deal for a pipeline that will never happen.

If Carney can get Smith to agree to ratchet up industrial carbon pricing in exchange? That feels like a win.

It’s amazing how much of our society is controlled by weird guys in a constant state of existential panic over their deeply held belief that Romans, yes those Romans, didn’t fuck enough.
NEW VIDEO! Investigating Elon Musk's very weird claims (based off of no evidence) about the Fall of Rome and birth rates led me down a very strange rabbit hole that shows how his catastrophic view of history informs the decisions he makes

Please stop doing this, it discriminates against students who need laptops. I don’t care if, on average, people learn better writing by hand. The goal of education is to ensure all students learn the best way they, as individuals, can. Taking away laptops is no different than taking away eyeglasses.
It's time to remove laptops from classrooms.

24 experiments: Students learn more and get better grades after taking notes by hand than typing. It's not just because they're less distracted—writing enables deeper processing and more images.

The pen is mightier than the keyboard.

Stiles is excellent IMHO, esp getting kicked out of the legislature for speaking the truth yesterday. But the Liberals are just AWOL & useless. Crombie could go scorched earth on her way out but nothing. Just total duds. Explains how they picked 2 Ford-lite leaders in a row. Will they do a 3rd?
“What’s disturbing about the scandal though, is how blatant it is. Political appointees are handing out hundreds of millions of dollars from a public slush fund to organizations that are either close to the government or that hire the right political insiders.”

Pretty sure the swastika has not been “potentially” divisive since 1920.
Just a reminder that I'm happy to speak to any journalist, or to recommend other scholars to do so, about why prejudice and "potentially divisive symbols" like swastikas (!) are so harmful to morale and cohesion in militaries
U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify swastikas, nooses as hate symbols
The military service, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, has drafted a new policy that classifies such items “potentially divisive.”
