Here's another one: Pathways is going nowhere unless that pipeline is built. So all the gushing I heard yesterday about how Alberta will be a leader in carbon capture is moot: the consensus is that there is no private proponent for this pipeline and it will never be built.

Here's one of the issues with an MOU that wasn't signed by BC: Alberta and Canada agree that BC will lead consultations with First Nations in BC ("engagement"). Nothing like agreeing a third party will do something it hasn't agreed to do and wasn't consulted about.

Thinking of my dad who as a rear gunner sunk a U-Boat in WW II. He said the crew threw down life preservers to the drowning men even though they knew they would be unlikely to survive. During an actual war.

Another reason not to shop Amazon.
Amazon’s top ten books on First Nations includes 2 residential school denialist books, and 1 book by Thomas King.

OpenAI Loses Key Discovery Battle as It Cedes Ground to Authors in AI Lawsuits
The issue has been a major battleground in discovery. OpenAI could be on the hook for hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars if it was aware it was infringing on copyrighted material.

I love the Sons of Anarchy but I have to say this whole season about the Irish chapter doesn't work for me. There are too many subplots.

This comment, and the way First Nations were not consulted about the MOU this week, are the kinds of issues I raise as part of the plot of my latest book, THE BONE-FINDER, except it's a lithium mine in Northern Ontario ....

So maybe we killed victims instead of just drug traffickers?

I guess we'll never know.
6/ 🚨 Per CURRENT and former US officials, there are strong reasons to believe some people on board the Sept 2 boat were people being trafficked.

(That is consistent with prior NYT reporting)

Whoa. It’s called “zoom” - quite a way to respond to the Coastal First Nations request for a meeting especially when he refused to meet them before the MOU that directly affects them was announced - while doing over 50 meetings with fossil fuel lobbyists.
HODGSON: It's called Zoom. I think that's what we're using.

COCHRANE: I understand. But I'm also not a Coastal First Nation Chief.
