Ok, I clicked and read it. Unless I’m completely misunderstanding, it’s a way of citing one’s use of an LLM. That doesn’t explain how on earth using one would be worthwhile in the first place.

Them: need help doing things?

Me: yes

Them: we have a doing things medication

Me: ooh

Them: hahahahaha guess what you have to do to get it?

Me: oh no

Them: things.
It’s not the job of your high school English class to make you love reading or even to assign books you enjoy, any more than it’s the job of your high school math class to make you love trigonometry or assign you equations you enjoy.
All right. You just sounded so sure that was not a good thing to do, that I thought you might actually be able to invoke a worthwhile use. But nobody ever can, and I should know that by now.

Ezra Pound was often a very good poet: the US literary establishment's outrage that he was punished for being a treasonous Nazi fuck was a product of both antisemitism and class solidarity. He should have been left in that cage.

his prose may be better in French, but as far as I can tell the appeal of Houellebecq is entirely that he allows people to voice conventionally shitty opinions and believe they're being daringly contrarian.

This defense is pretty telling:

"...While failing to mention the dangerous smears coming from Democrat politicians who have...called Republicans Nazis and Fascists."

In their heads, calling some a Nazi is just as bad as OPENLY STATING YOU *LIKE* NAZIS.

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

Unprecedentedly illegal & unconstitutional crimes - things that make Nixon's presidency-ending crimes look like harmless high school pranks - now happening daily:

Trump is no longer even pretending to have any kind of argument that his murdering of people in the Caribbean Sea has any kind of statutory validity. Just straight up declaring that he has quasi-unlimited power to execute people based on (nominal) suspicion.

Sam Altman went from “AI will cure cancer" to "ChatGPT porn" in less than a month
ChatGPT boss predicts when AI could cure cancer We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

As another Jewish woman in the industry, I can clear this up: It's due to her being an asshole.

Fox News host Emily Compagno claims that the backlash to Bari Weiss being named CBS News editor-in-chief is due to her being Jewish:

"This kind of thing would make me laugh if there was not an antisemitic thread in there."

Transness is not bourgeois. This is a wedge idea dreamed up by some gleefully amoral think tank lobotomite to split trans people and make us fight each other. That we relay on modern medicine doesn't make us any more bourgeois than someone who needs antidepressants or cleft palate repair.
I see no reason to, though. Their makers violated my copyright and literally nothing anybody has ever said about them indicates to me that they would be of any use. I’ll continue mocking their use instead.

Just like the lies about Black and Latino graduation ceremonies this isn’t about exclusion it’s about whose concerns are centered in shared spaces.

I know it is beside the point because this administration simply wants resegregation but conferences for Black professional associations have always been open to everyone. Typically, the started as a response to white exclusion, and did not replicate that.

Very bad: OSU unilaterally cancelled the registration of grad students attending the joint conference of the National Society of Black Physicists and the National Society of Hispanic Physicists. And OSU won't fund recruiting at the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science.

the position of the administration it seems is that it is illegal discrimination and divisive racism for historically excluded groups to organize on that basis to improve their position. it’s basically just a genteel version of david duke’s complaint that there wasn’t a NAACP for white people

The news here, which needs to be in the heds, deks, & ledes, is that this violates our WTO obligations & other trade treaties, & that the constantly changing tariffs directly undermine the justifications under domestic trade laws for tariffs. The rest is noise & detail & needs to come <after> that 👆

Federal Secret Police and plainclothes ICE agents kidnap multiple people from a neighborhood in Chicago. They then deploy teargas and brutally beat neighbors who come out to express their concern.
