Mostly just posting what comes to mind, like politics, video games, pop culture, advertising jingles stuck in my head for decades, some void screaming, every now and then post my "bad" art. Should probably come back and edit this description someday.He/Him

The semi-stealth vibes are especially notable given the unhinged frenzy on X about data where the biggest-looking spike shows... a difference of about ~80 prep-school students checking "non-binary?"

Yes, Matt. It's all over, you won. Go back to sleep, transgenders are gone... don't worry about them
Matt Walsh post on X declaring that conservatives have "won" now that "Transgenderism is effectively over" due to data gathered by Unherd, which seems to show a drop in students checking a gender box other than male or female

That first DJ Krush album definitely deserves more love.
Album cover with the words Krush in script.

That’s $5 billion more than the entire annual USAID budget. All to one country. To rescue one friend of the president’s.

Trump found another $20 BILLION to give to Argentina, totaling their bailout to $40 BILLION.

Yet we can’t afford to prevent millions of Americans from losing their healthcare.

Shame.

NEW for @washingtonpost.com:

Pentagon reporters exited the building in unison Wednesday after turning in their badges, having refused to sign the Defense Department's press policy.

@nancyayoussef.bsky.social called it a “sad day for those who support a free press.”
Reporters leave Pentagon en masse after refusing to sign on to new rules
After turning in their press credentials, journalists covering the Defense Department walked out rather than comply with its restrictive new policies.

“the constitution forbids race conscious remedies” would be news to the people who wrote the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments

Griem goes there, arguing in response to Justice Jackson that there can be no race-conscious remedy absent a finding of intentional discrimination.

the extent to which media elites treat liberal americans as if they do not count in the body politic is a real problem
perrybaconjr.bsky.social
I read the piece. You shouldn't. He dismisses the "No Kings" protests as liberals in blue cities. He invokes Rosa Parks, as if rural white people in the 60s loved everything that the movement then was doing. "We need a movement but not this one" is a core centrist tact these days.

Still not it

No.. they aren't doing that

She LITERALLY helped RFK get the job by hiding her relationship with him and writing fawning articles as if they were independent

She shouldn't be able to sell a book about her unprofessionalism

Six people had their visas revoked due to their social media posts.

Six people are being deported because of what they said online.

Six people have had their freedom of speech suspended.

It won’t stop with these six people.

Either we all have freedom of speech or none of us do.

Using the national frame for a candidate like Graham without understanding Maine won't get you far. I'll say this. I know a lot of Maine political folks. Some are my closest friends, and none of them are riding for Mills. The energy is for Graham and maybe Jordan. Also, we have RCV here.

One of the biggest issues in democratic politics is how the consultants everyone hires sees voters as just a cash machine and they pummel them with messages asking for money instead of activating them for politics. It rightfully makes people extremely cynical.

Some white folk get really mad at the very idea that someone might want to hear the opinion of a Black person, and not their opinion, in any context. They believe that their opinion should be valid absolutely everywhere.

This is weird.

Don't do this.
mekka.mekka-tech.com
Are you Black?

This isn't complicated.

If I wanted to do a survey to learn Spanish speakers' opinion of a new law, question 1 might be "Are you a Spanish speaker?"

Then you bust through the wall like the Cool Aid man: "I am a political science professor! Survey me instead! Take it or leave it!"

Counterpoint: The Democratic National Committed not just as dangerous as the Republican Party.
postmodernmortem.bsky.social
People act like I'm crazy when I say that the DNC are just as dangerous as the GOP...but the DNC is literally blocking any enthusiasm or hope that the left could manifest to actually beat facism.

They literally suppress any progressive movement, leader, energy, or momentum that emerges.

This is definitely close enough that why even quibble over the imprecision of language about it. Because the alternative is we have to create a new word that covers those things, like 'schmeading' or something.

I have thought hard about yesterday’s engagement farming question. My most unhinged literary opinion is that almost everything where you decode meaning is reading: books, audiobooks, comics, social media, movies, video games, television, radio. It all involves decoding an encoded text ergo “reading”

Obsessed with the look of sheer delight on the women these magazines always insist on pairing their most harrowing headlines with.
The cover of a magazine showing a woman's delighted face next to: TRUE HORROR: MURDERED ON HALLOWEEN - and her boy saw everything The cover of a magazine with a grinning woman above the headline: RAISED BY A CANNIBAL. DAD KILLED, COOKED AND ATE HIS GIRLFRIEND. A magazine cover with a smiling woman above the headline: A DEMON MADE MY COUSIN BEDBOUND. Could I set him free?

Clearly ignoring the headline and going to their happy place... Laughing at salad.
