Really would like people to shift their thinking to the point where they see themselves and the people around them as the people who will collectively navigate through this moment.

Pritzker or Newsom aren’t perfect or even great but they are the only hope to take the country back from MAGA. It’s not gonna happen tho
chadstanton.blacksky.app
This is what happens when you frame the current efforts from the Trump Administration in terms focused on the “great men” in the moment and not the actual people being targeted and resisting on the ground. They should understand their assault is a part of the “greater good” to save Pritzker.
chadstanton.blacksky.app
Notice the way Pritzker’s risk is placed at the forefront and the protesters under assault from the police aren’t even in the equation.

Just what would YOU have Pritzker DO?
He is on the verge of being charged by a fascist regime in our White House.
GET REAL WITH YOUR CONCERNS.
MAYBE THE F'ing POLICE SHOULD FOLLOW OUR CONSTITUTION!!!!!!!

“Some compare it to a plane that never lands, or a lawnmower that never turns off. A county commissioner said it’s like “sleeping with a leafblower under your pillow.” No matter the comparison, there’s one common thread — it’s relentless.”

I’d lose my mind in this scenario.

“But ever since a noisy cryptocurrency facility moved in about half a mile away in 2023, he said their rocking chairs have mostly sat empty. Other nearby residents also say they don’t spend much time outside anymore because of what many call “that roar.””

Leaders of the effort say they moved to rural Hood County for its quiet country charm, which was shattered by what locals call “that roar” from the facility.

“Conditions started to deteriorate in 2024 after pandemic-era subsidies expired. Hiring slowed, and high prices weighed heavily on low-income earners. Black households were the only racial group last year in which median income fell and the poverty rate rose, according to the Census Bureau.”

“The African American unemployment rate has surged over the past four months, from 6 to 7.5 percent, while the rate for white people ticked down slightly to 3.7 percent. On top of a slowing economy, the White House’s actions have disproportionately harmed Black workers, economists said.”

thiel, man, what the fuck are you talking about

He describes the plot of Watchmen, a 1986 graphic novel involving superheroes grappling with moral questions about humanity against the backdrop of impending nuclear war:

The antihero Ozymandias, the antichrist-type figure, is sort of an early-modern person. He believes this will be a timeless and eternal solution – eternal world peace. Moore is sort of a late-modern. In early modernity, you have ideal solutions, ‘perfect’ solutions to calculus. In late modernity, things are sort of probabilistic. And at some point, he asks Dr Manhattan whether the world government is going to last. And he says that ‘nothing lasts forever.’ So you embrace the antichrist and it still doesn’t work.

Thiel later finds biblical meaning in the manga One Piece, discussing how he believes it represents a future where an antichrist-like one-world government has repressed science. He believes that the hero, Monkey D Luffy, represents a Christlike figure.

In One Piece, you are set in a fantasy world, again sort of an alternate earth, but it’s 800 years into the reign of this one-world state. Which, as the story unfolds, gradually gets darker and darker. You sort of realize, in my interpretation, who runs the world and it’s something like the antichrist. There’s Luffy, a pirate who wears a red straw hat, sort of like Christ’s crown of thorns. And then towards the end of the story, transforms into a figure who resembles Christ in Revelation.

Thiel, along with a researcher and writer at Thiel Capital, explored these ideas at greater length in an essay for the religious journal First Things earlier this month.

Cory Booker did the same thing. Had his bill tanked by Republicans anyway, and so we all walked away with more firm bipartisan support for the police with none of the promised reforms.

This is one place where I have to say Mamdani has good political sense about because it's very clear that's on the back of his mind as he says things but he frames his policing policy as a benefit to them so they have no real reason to go after him.

Remember when Kirk Watson let DPS patrol Austin and they immediately racially profiled everyone from Rundberg to Riverside?

He collaborated with Greg Abbott to police Austin while our DA had like 30 cops indicted after 2020.

Watson is not going to do shit. He thinks of them as coworkers.

There was a moment, very recently, when the popular sentiment was firmly in favor of addressing police violence and unaccountability; the response from these same politicians was “fund the police.”

“But the politicians are scared of police violence,” hmm how do you think we feel about it?
