What D’Angelo said Black Messiah means. It came out at the end of 2014 and it was so needed.

Article (Nolan Feeney; TIME) excerpt reads: “Black Messiah is a hell of a name for an album. It can be misunderstood. Many will think it's about religion. I think the most. . . boiled down thought I've ever had about death came to me at 8 yrs old when I found out my cousin died.

At 8, all I could think was "I thought I would see her again."

And, I realize. . . that's really the whole thing.

When Black Messiah dropped, me & @lontier.blacksky.app stayed up for the release. I walked to the store at 11:45 to grab a bottle of brown because i just KNEW. D'Angelo does not have a bad album.
