I got this far in December 6 before wishing you all a Happy Woolseymas. My apologies.

Happy Woolseymas! 92 years since district judge John Woolsey ruled that Ulysses was not obscene and could be legally sold in the US.

Good to celebrate these things while we still can.

Are you doing full again at Disney? Just half for me this year

We restored the zip ties on baby Jesus. The #Christmas story is literally about an authoritarian ruler using violence, causing fear, and eventually driving the holy family to become refugees in Egypt. The parallels couldn't be more clear between scripture and our nativity. We're not going anywhere.

Still better than that little hill they had in center at Enron Field

Nice - congrats!

But he can rest on it between pitches or on plays in the infield, which is good for his rickety old man back and legs

Here's a better headline for Axios: "How Trump has normalized racism and racist slurs." Why can't some journalists just call a thing what it is? https://loom.ly/hiKWr58

down a “Spies Like Us” rabbit hole. I chuckled at the reference to Aykroyd “working as a professional musician in other contexts.” I suppose he has sung lead on one more US Top 40 single than I have.

One of the most satisfying things was when I was a finalist but didn’t get hired for a big-time job, and when folks in my circles found out who got the it, they all said, who is that?

(fwiw it’s a cursed job and I am so, so lucky it wasn’t me)

Make it happen

Maybe they’ll show it on the common screen of the reeducation camp if we meet the AI chip making quota

We need to talk about the massive loophole that the Supreme Court just carved into election law over the shadow docket—giving states a free pass to enact patently unconstitutional voting rules within nearly *one year* of an election. A stunning new limit on judicial review. slate.com/news-and-pol...

Yesterday, Judge Moss held a hearing in NPR v. Trump in which the two sides clashed over the First Amendment.

@mollyroberts.bsky.social describes what occurred in the courtroom, where NPR argued the government is disfavoring speech it disagrees with by cutting its funding.

my measured conclusion upon review of the Supreme Court's order reimposing Texas's racially gerrymander is that the only thing the Republican justices hate more than district court judges is people of color voting

A federal district court found that Texas Republicans’ redistricting proposal is an illegal racial gerrymander. The conservative justices couldn't care less.

Don't let anyone tell you that the Commission's DSA enforcement against X is about speech or censorship.

That would, indeed, be interesting. But this is just the EU enforcing some normal, boring laws that would get bipartisan support in the U.S. (I bet similar bills *have* had that support.) 1/
