I don't mean to keep hammering away at this drum, but I am currently in the hospital on Thanksgiving because I spent years putting more than my body could do into a job that was actively trying to kill me for not doing even more

I think in part the higher education funding crisis and the LLM-teaching crisis actually strike at the same problem, which is that education doesn't work without a broad, society-wide sense that the *actual content* of education - not the credential - is valuable.

7:04 p.m. — Omnilert sent an alert for review
7:05-7:06 p.m. — School system safety personnel and the Maryland Safe Schools facilitator reviewed the alert and canceled it.
7:17 p.m. — Kenwood’s principal reported the alert to a school resource officer. “Because this alert was received after school hours, the SRO called the local [police] precinct,” school officials stated.
7:23 p.m. — Police arrived at Kenwood after receiving a report of a suspicious person with a weapon.
Trained school system safety professionals review the images and either validate or cancel alerts based on what they see. Canceling means that no action is taken. The “google is using your email to train AI” debacle is imo most instructively seen as tracer dye for multiple failures: many people are instinctively skeptical of tech companies now; and many outlets that should have had experts able to cogently weigh in and go “wait a minute” simply don’t anymore.

if there's a reason to keep up the "tribunals for all involved" discourse one such reason it is to put in stark relief how far away some of the Dem politicking is from the mood on the ground
