Hi, I’m a historian. My greatest hits include “Yes, people lived to 70+ in pre-modern ages; ‘average’ life span of 40 just accounts for all the kids dead before 5 with no #vaccines,” “Yes, birth control was around before Ancient Egyptians,” and “Yes, ffs, #transgender /LGBTQIA have ALWAYS been” 🗃️🧪🩺🏳️‍⚧️

In Printz v. United States, #SCOTUS held that the Constitution bars the federal government from forcing or otherwise compelling local or state governments to enforce federal law.

The liberal squish who wrote the majority opinion in that case? Justice Antonin Scalia:

but then theyd have to point out that their best buddies the Republicans and their supporters are above and beyond responsible for the bulk of it and theyd never want to hurt their feelings like that
I think American political media should acknowledge how insanely lopsided political violence is in America.

So CONFUSED by it.

it reveals pretty plainly that "merit-based hiring" means "you belong to the correct class and hold the right set of identities"
Odd how when people like Bari Weiss go on about 'merit-based hiring', what they mean is hiring nice-looking white boys from elite schools regardless of their experience.

our politics is in a state of very rapid change in recent months and especially these last few weeks. small differences in statement dates that may not have felt important in past periods matter more than ever today. confusion benefits the regime. let's strive to not help them oppress us
I know everyone is sharing this, and it is bad, but, let's also be clear, this is not a new statement from Homan. This was from January 15: www.thedailybeast.com/donald-trump...
TOM HOMAN: “We’re going to create a database where those people that are arrested for interference, impeding and assault, we’re going to make them famous. We’re going to put their face on TV. We’re going to let their employers, in their neighborhoods, in their schools, know who these people are.”

This is important! The “Dear Colleague” letter that led many schools/universities/colleges to scrap DEI programs and change their policies for hiring and admissions to please the administration is DEAD now.

Trump letter banning DEI in schools is dead after legal appeal is dropped
The Education Department said it would accept a federal judge’s order killing guidance issued by the Trump administration in February on civil rights law.

To avoid the possibility Holocaust remembrance might lead to empathy for migrants, Trump's antisemitism envoy claims Anne Frank "was in Amsterdam legally."

In reality, Margot Frank received a summons to go to a labor camp on July 5, 1942. After ignoring this call, they were in Amsterdam illegally.

everyone thinks the warrant thing is meaningless because it’s a law they’re already breaking, but this isn’t the case, and would end the street grabs, the home depot raids and the house to house grabs, which, depending on how it’s written, would be a huge deal, that’s more or less the end of big ops

ICE murdered Renée Good in broad daylight. Less than 3 weeks later, they killed Alex Pretti, shooting him 10 times. Every day, we watch as people are ripped from their cars, their homes, their lives.

We can't allow ourselves to look away from this cruelty. Abolish ICE.

Exactly right.

Bovino's leaving? Great, get Noem to resign.

Noem resigns? Great, defund and dismantle ICE.

Go after Stephen Miller too. Bring charges against ICE thugs at the state and local level. Lawsuits. New state laws restricting them.

Every possible angle.
They are wounded and flailing. Press the advantage.

Questions for the WH press corps tomorrow:

“Isn’t it unfair that Bovino lost his job while Stephen Miller faced no consequences?”

“What message does that send to the rank and file ICE agents?”

“Has POTUS been getting bad advice from Miller?”

“Does the President still have confidence in Miller?”
Stephen Miller made the same claims and this would be an *excellent* time for mainstream folks (papers, celebs, athletes) and Dems to demand his resignation as well. So consistently and loudly that the WH is forced to respond. Make him their liability.

In evaluating the whining about “doxxing” — by which they mean identifying federal employees who killed someone under color of law - remember this administration cooperates with a large cadre of obedient bootlicker Right media that leaps to the tasks of viciously lying about anyone they kill.
Naming someone is not doxxing. They aren’t undercover. They aren’t intelligence agents overseas. This is outrageous - we are supposed to be a free Republic and these people want an authoritarian police state. Lawsuits should be filed & ranking Dems in Congress should act.

This is the thing that I keep coming back to

“I didn’t vote for THIS” Okay, well, a *huge* number of people knew that if the guy you voted for won, this is exactly what would happen. So why did they know and you didn’t? What did you miss? Why did you get it so wrong?
I need people who were wrong about everything to actually look back and recognize that there was a reason they were wrong and maybe they need to update their understanding of the world.

Otherwise they don't really think they were wrong.

I also want to highlight the sentence that immediately preceded that one:

"In some places, fear of running afoul of politicized parents seems to have made some teachers gun shy about raising certain subjects."

this suggests the Black People Permission Slip was--you guessed it--complying in advance
“In Ron DeSantis’s Florida…parents at one Miami school received a notice that their first graders would need a signed permission slip to “participate and listen to a book written by an African American.”

Sorry but I heard reporting of him saying he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and not lose a single vote at least a hundred times. If you were ignorant that this is what you were voting for it could ONLY be by choice.
Seriously, folks, people did NOT vote for murder on the streets. A majority of those who voted went for Trump, and to win power, those against Trump will have to win many of them over, not reject them all as people who want fascism.

I mean, there isn’t a way. The way to stop clashing with protesters is to not do Trumpian mass deportation and follow the law and they’re not going to do that

You wanted a masked secret police force, you wanted militarized crackdowns on blue cities. You got it. Tough shit.
“.. Some in the administration worry that public polling and sentiment has turned against the administration’s immigration actions in cities, and some discussions have centered on how to continue deportations without clashing with protesters, officials said.”
