One of the few ways the tech industry can continually juice their stock is always have an innovation, real or imagined. In lieu of making something useful people want, they went all passing around VC money on a turd, just trying to keep hype alive until the next innovation, real or imagined.

since OpenAI and its braindead buddies are just passing the same ten billion dollars back and forth over and over again I feel pretty safe in saying it's all one giant desperate attempt to monetize anything at all

Their show is a great trojan horse because because it opens with "how are all the gays out there doing today" and ends with 15 minutes of ranting about traffic... but in between they put the screws to the establishment and actually say the thing.

"You just call everyone you don't like a nazi."

Maybe it's because you can't stop yourselves from saying nazi shit, my dudes.

Thousands of posts from a private Young Republican Telegram chat reveal a culture of casual racism/antisemitism, rape jokes and celebration of Hitler/Nazism.

Some of the ringleaders are below: We live in a world where 4chan types now occupy positions of real power.

Because people love to think of two things at once and immediately create a conspiratorial connection between them.

Then those states should freeze federal income tax. Oops.

Trump admin has frozen or cancelled $28 b for projects, almost all in Dem districts. Small amount of frozen funds in GOP districts are in predominately Dem states (CA, OR, WA, CO, MN, IL, NY, MD), or in predominately Dem cities (St Louis, Atlanta, Greenville) www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Two sets of parents who are currently suing OpenAI for losing their kids to suicide because of ChatGPT might have something to say about "now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues" part.

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

It's at this moment in history that I'm reminded of how 8 years ago the right flew into an absolute panic because they got trolled on social media about "antifa supersoldiers."
can't wait for November 4th when millions of antifa supersoldiers will behead all white parents and small business owners in the town square

Would it surprise you that the owner of Scientific American's parent company, Stefan von Holtzbrinck, invested $37 million in Inkitt, an AI firm?

What a SHOCK

It's wild how 2025 in movies has been repeatedly, "oh yeah, Stephen King has been bang on about the union of fascism and capitalism for 50 years now."
