“We're here today to express dismay that Leslie Wexner is avoiding service of a court ordered subpoena for deposition in the case of Richard Strauss," a former campus doctor said to have abused dozens of men.

OSU’s board chair is both the father & law partner of Wexner’s lawyer, Matthew Zeiger.
OSU alumni hold photos of billionaire Les Wexner with Jeffrey Epstein while demanding testimony
“We believe Wexner’s testimony will shed light,” former OSU wrestler Tom Lisy said about the abuse allegations against Dr. Richard Strauss.

Any of you Internet Sleuths (tm) 🔎 know how to figure out the origin of the meme phrase

"sad that we need a dead man's emails to believe the testimony of 1,000 living women." ?

(I might use a stronger word than, 'sad', personally, but...)

It's been a *hard* year.

I'm guessing that most of the people in your life don't need another scarf?

Could be that they (and you, too, maybe?) could use some liberatory nourishment and fortification for this next chapter, though?

As the @theradr.bsky.social tells us time and again, there can be no true repentance without accountability and learning from your past mistakes and working to not make them again and well THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT THAT

LESLEY STAHL: You contributed to the toxic culture. You were out there pounding, insulting people

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: You've contributed to it as well

STAHL: I want you to respond to what you have done in terms of insulting people

MTG: I'd like for you to respond to that

Human lives have value, and it’s urgent that we do everything that we can to preserve them

even if they don’t contribute to capitalism.

I would say: I can’t believe we’ve forgotten this basic concept, but I wonder if we, as a society, broadly understood– that is to say power – ever understood it.
This is so disgusting.

These posts are great. My son and I had a very wide ranging discussion about the origin of monotheism amd its impact on human culture jsut a few days ago. These articles enrich such discussions a lot!
If you do a close read not only of the Bible but the archeology,

it starts to look like the Israelites, & all but a couple of Judean kings, worshipped a goddess for pretty much the whole First Temple era.

The implications of this are... far ranging--

& her name might not be what we've believed.

I haven't stopped thinking about this essay since I read it.
To choose life, not just for ourselves but for everyone and a bountiful one for all.
The work of bringing a more whole world into being is us, friends.

If there's anything else that might happen, great, but in the meantime: we have our marching orders to fight for love, care, justice, compassion, life.

Not complicated.

Forty years ago, 90% of media outlets were spread across 50 companies.

Now, just 5 companies control 90% of the media market.

This consolidation hurts consumers and helps oligarchs. 🧵

THIS.

THIS, THIS, THIS, THISSY THIS.

Ultimately, the story here isn't Olivia Nuzzi, but the incredibly insular and dysfunctional Beltway Media cult that shapes so much of our political coverage.
If you go look at her twitter, nuzzi was (is??) supported by A LOT in the DC press corps
We need to have serious conversations about 1/ nuzzi was never, ever a “genius” or “unusually talented writer”, 2/ the DC press corps is highly problematic

There’s an old story of a Russian Jew who was paid a ruble a month by the community council to stand at the outskirts of town so that he could be the first to greet the Messiah upon their arrival. When a friend said to him, "But the pay is so low," the man replied: "True, but the job is permanent."
