You guys there are apparently so many mistakes in the Sanhedrin 67b section. I should've had someone look it over before posting but I'm always like "yeah but what, a dozen people will see it? Two dozen? Just do it later"

A sanhedrin that executes once in seven years, is called murderous.
A Florida man convicted of raping and killing his neighbor decades ago was put to death in a record 15th execution in the state this year.

Norman Mearle Grim Jr., 65, became the record 15th person to be executed in Florida this year. The state is followed by Texas and Alabama, with five executions each.

Periodic reminder that since the dissolution of the Sanhedrin, no rabbi is a "real" rabbi.

"Woman caught in adultery" is nearly universally agreed to be a late addition to the text. In any case, Jewish courts didn't have the authority to hand down death penalties, nor do they seem to have had the desire (Mishnah Sanhedrin). As for the crucifixion, the gospels don't mention Pharisees there

Here's a fun passage from the gemara (B. Sanhedrin 75a), written by the cultural heirs to the pharisees. Translation in the alt-text. Basically, the Talmud says incels can rot, if you need a woman to notice you or you'll die then you can go die

Which as far as I can tell was the point of the Gospels! As far as I can tell, even most Christian scholars agree that (everything else aside) the Sanhedrin acted procedurally and legally correctly when it arraigned, tried, and convicted Jesus

But the Sanhedrin did not convict a murderer if the vote was unanimous, so Scalia wisely reasoned that this must mean no one was guilty of discrimination.

Pilate—the historical Pilate, not the concoction of Christian writers—was brutal even by Roman standards, which is why he was recalled. The idea that he'd be cowed by the Sanhedrin into crucifying Jesus is laughable.
Wow. This motherfucker.

Did Jesus have issues with the Pharisees? We don't know. Was he a Pharisee? No clue. What were the Pharisees? There is very little info. What were the scribes he railed against? We literally have no idea. Was there a Sanhedrin? Maybe not!

Christians quoting the Torah as a gotcha against kind compassionate people are stupid because they don't understand the difference between G-d's instructions to the collective for every individual to observe and His instructions for like, the freaking Sanhedrin

When I hear the word Christian but see these folks demand harm it gets confusing.
Lets consider a rebrand. IF you genuinely care for people as a whole even if you believe or dont believe in Jesus you get the label Christian. If you hate the left you get to pick from Pharisee, Saducee or Sanhedrin

Amy Jo Levine, I think in The Misunderstood Jew, also says that the point of the Good Samaritan is that he's a Samaritan and Jesus is working on a Jewish parable tradition where the third person doing the actual good work is the important one and would be a member of the Sanhedrin (or parallel)

I know this is a parody account. but...
After Jesus was arrested, he was put on trial by the Sanhedrin. This was the highest ruling council of the Jews.

Also consider the story of Jesus on Good Friday. The Sanhedrin got worthless men to testify against Jesus and still couldn't get a straight story out of the witnesses. THIS IS NOT TO SAY "ALL JEWS HAVE LOUSY SOULS" as if I have to keep reminding people.
