Here because there's nowhere else to go now. And you know what? I'm rather enjoying it. See pinned post regarding what makes me tick and if you're going to follow me, POST SOMETHING!

Je ne suis pas Charlie.
Pinned
In arbitrary order; beer, cats, philatelic history, broadcasting history, buses, architecture, the Peak District, the Yorkshire coast, cooking, jazz, classical, prog, football, cricket, Tom Lehrer, Flanders & Swann, not doing small talk, fighting against the grim meathook future on multiple fronts.
okay, time for a prompt post to distract us all from the horrors. quote this post with your areas of expertise, interest, hyperfixation and/or obsession and invite your audience to ask you questions about them.

The difference between sweet potatoes and yams » Colin Purrington's blog
Every year at Thanksgiving, families in the United States sit down to argue about politics and the difference between sweet potatoes and yams. This page details how to tell them apart and explains how...

Two-mile-borris, Co. Tipperary. From the Irish 'Buiríos Léith', probably meaning the borough of the monastery in nearby Leigh.

Also the ideal distancing applicable to certain floppy-haired former British Prime Ministers in a pandemic.

Aw, Jimmy Cliff. First thing that popped into my head was his appearance on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, where he reduced the sometimes very abrasive Mark Lamaar to putty belting out 'Many Rivers to Cross'

Periodically I see people justifying means-testing to ensure The Rich don't get stuff for free when they can afford it.

I see the logic, but we can just tax them more.

Plus, the BIGGEST thing not means-testing solves is

*deep breath*

IT STOPS RICH PEOPLE FINANCIALLY-ABUSING THEIR KIDS ANYMORE.

There are really only 2 possibilities for LAB to change its disastrous leader ATM.

Rayner or Miliband

Burnham doesn’t have a constituency, & any attempt at a by-election for him would be a freebie for REF, GRN or YP. Streeting does have a constituency but won’t have after the next election.
1/3
Leadership (of “Labour), poll.

Noticeable that Starmer v Streeting produces more Don’t Knows than enthusiasm for either candidate. Like Spurs v Man U you want both to lose; the choice between sick & wee.

The only decisive wins are Burnham & Rayner. Even Labour members want to move left.

Replies in this thread tell a real tale about centrist idiocy.

This being an off the cuff answer aside, Zack lives close to St Pancras, and he would never get elected in a seat as far right as Clacton. Standing there would be the stunt whiny centrists are accusing him of.
Zack Polanski tells the BBC it would be "very tempting" for him to stand in Keir Starmer's seat at the next general election

Udo Kier - cinema’s fallen angel and an embodiment of the screen’s delicious power to corrupt - is gone. "I would live like the hero of Huysman's A Rebours,” he once told me. “Have no clocks, and hire two nuns to go by my window and pray at 12 o'clock each day."

Interestingly, that is the very same attitude that many pensioners fire at in work and sickness benefits when claimed by younger people. It is often ALSO the difference between existing and food banks. Get irritated at the POLITICIANS who are pitting you against other generations, not others in pain
