Got my A1 French exam in two weeks. I've been doing the course since late September and I still suck. I struggle to write and understand French when it's spoken. I can speak it ok, but issues with the right conjugation. Probably gonna fail. Struggling to remember the words and letting myself down.

There are lots of very good covers of Beatles songs out there. But I still reckon one of the best is by the wonderfully named female group Fanny, absolutely kicking the shit out of 'Hey Bulldog'. Lovely stuff!

What is the 'Die Hard is a Christmas film' of songs played around Christmas or considered Christmas hits?

You know in the Shania Twain 'That Don't Impress Me Much' video, where she's lost in the desert. But she turns down a lift in a car, bike, jeep, truck and horseback.

So at the end of the clip, there's no resolution, and she's still lost in the desert, yeah...

Like... does she die?!

Just thinking about that time I was mooching around a junk shop in Hull, and out in the open, available for purchase was a framed photo of Adolf Hitler.

Something about 'Last Christmas' by Wham that's always amused me, is the gentle chugging synth keyboard sounds exactly like the music they used in Thomas the Tank Engine.

It's an uncanny fit.

What I ADORE about The Smiths singles/LP artwork is that it's a mix of filtered stills of cult actors, political imagery or British pop culture icons.

Which means (without the need for AI), it's easy and fun to make your own.

Aw, Jimmy Cliff. First thing that popped into my head was his appearance on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, where he reduced the sometimes very abrasive Mark Lamaar to putty belting out 'Many Rivers to Cross'

In my old houseshare, another housemate had a mate over and he took a load of ket.

Came home from a gig, found him in the kitchen making toast, but instead of using a knife with the butter... He was rubbing it in with his fingers.

He bellowed 'KNIVES ARE PUSSIES'

In a way, I miss that place.

Sometimes, if you've watched a lot of pro wrestling done really well, it can be an astoundingly gripping performance art.

Other times, it's 1992 and a bloke in a confederate flag ensemble called Dixie Dy-no-mite is grappling a fella called The Stormtrooper in full on swastika spandex.

I know someone who claims to have never worked with anyone they'd consider problematic. But they're a fellow comic, pro wrestling fan and Red Dwarf fan like me... So fair play, that's a great bit of denial or some superb trolling.

Suzi Quatro might be a filthy Tory, but if I'd been a young lad in the 70's I'd have been absolutely in love with everything about her. She was pretty cool #totp

Nothing to see here...

Just DS Ted Roach from The Bill being the hard-drinking, 'don't play by the rules, but I get the damn results, guv' maverick of Sun Hill to the strains of Judas Priest.

Enjoy your day!

You know what we don't talk enough about?

The Hoff on German TV (obvs) singing the delightfully schlock 'Everybody Sunshine' with, let me check...

An abundance of kids, a big blue cat, a haunting bear-like creature on a swing, a bagpiper and a backing singer putting in WAY too much effort.
