the cocoa puffs bird, lacking the colorful plumage of many male birds, must perform an elaborate grain-based ritual in his tireless search for a mate

If I was going to the Met Gala, I'd dress in a big yeti costume and call myself The Meti, which is probably why I'll never get invites to the Met Gala

the froot loops toucan and the coco puffs bird have been fucking in rent by the hour motel nests (it's a pervert bird thing) for a decade and they're starting to wonder if maybe it's.... maybe.... could it be love
This guy and the Froot Loops bird, now *that’s* a heated rivalry.

ICE are bog standard child kidnappers.
Thanks. We have folks in our community giving vulnerable students rides to school, and a teacher shared that they were putting small stuffed animals on their dashboards to help kids identify safe cars. ICE picked up on it and started doing the same. Horrifying.

tbh i should've actually said "unlimited bodily autonomy" for #3 because trans rights are neatly encapsulated in that. the fundamental question at the heart of many issues (trans rights, homophobia, abortion, vaccines, etc) is whether or not you are allowed to have control over your own body.
my top three political issues:

1. environmental sustainability and everything that entails
2. drastically increased funding and reforms for public education
3. trans rights

It’s useful in this moment when the administration is killing people, dragging them away to oubliettes, leaving babies on the street, to see who the DNC will throw down for.

i was talking with someone in the twin cities about how it’s not even accurate to call them protesters. they’re literally just people protecting their city from TERRORISTS.
Every time the Trump regime uses the words "funded protesters" and "outside agitators" news outlets need to cut to this photo from last week.

ICE has invaded these communities. Outside agitators don't show up in their fucking bathrobes.

Society parried the ozone layer, acid rain, and Y2K back to back and instead of going "wow, parrying is badass" a lot of people went "society didn't even get hit so I guess there's no need to learn how to parry" and instantly took a thousand hits
we live in a sick society that thinks preventing problems is a waste of time and effort and hey, guess why everything sucks now

what are you going to do about it, ask for $5?
I work with state parties every single day. There are only a handful of national leaders who actually raise real money for the year organizing state parties do--Ken Martin (dnc chair), Simon Rosenberg (Hopium), Sen. Warren and Actblue. Come for Simon and you come for all of us.
I'm not interested in arguing with the good people of Minnesota, on the front lines, doing the hard work of protecting our democracy. I've worked hard to bring your bravery and courage to the world in recent weeks on Hopium.

But attacks like this are false, defamatory, and need to end. 1/

The "ICE is using military tactics suited for a warzone, not for American streets" rhetoric kinda misses the point that warzones are not naturally occuring. The US military creates war zones from residential neighborhoods and the tactics are not more justifiable just because it's overseas

NYT writers referring to moms outside of their schools watching for ICE as "activists" is stupid and makes their reporters look like Cletuses. Local reporters know because their friends & loved ones are out there doing the same.

In December local media hadn't quite picked up on the tenor of the MN occupation but they have since been great in understanding what's going on. But the last week means you have international media showing up & there's a huge difference. They simply cannot process events except through their priors

It’s ironic that they’re like “if we do ethnic cleansing we’ll have a high trust neighborly society” and then Minneapolis is literally doing high trust neighborly society and they’re like nooooo
Many Americans are terrible neighbors to each other, and that is why MN is striking everyone as extraordinary activism... when they are telling us that it is not. They're good neighbors!

It's no wonder that "being a shitty neighbor" is the hallmark of our domestic politics and our foreign policy.

[incredibly loud stage whisper] what if we didn't bother replacing it with anything
This is important & revealing. Gallego is from AZ. He ran to the right of Dems in 2024 on immigration. The fact he's saying this speaks volumes. He sees where the public is on ICE. Tear it down. Build another non-police-state-freak-show immigration enforcement agency.
Arizona’s @gallego.senate.gov : "I think ICE needs to be totally torn down… People want immigration enforcement that goes after criminals, not the goon squad that has come from Stephen Miller and Trump."
