United States citizens are responsible for spray painting tags on rocks in the park, driving drunk in the park, committing murder in the park.

The occasional German tourist has never tried to run me off of State Highway 120.

What a moronic fucking idea

a thing I have realized, as I have become old, is that everything is part of everything else, and so we understand reality as layers of meaning.

the way our occipital lobes see light and dark, edges and motion, and then another layer sees the shapes those make, another layer sees faces, and so on

Yes, Tesla’s machine learning model combined with shitty cameras is so powerful and amazing that it runs right into a sign that literally says “go anywhere but here”.
Watch Tesla Full Self-Driving v14.2 drive straight into a sign at a roundabout.

Elon Musk says this software feels “almost like it is a sentient being.”

Do you believe him?

I know my mom and @robertmannbooks.com might get upset with me for this, but I think that if you look at Louisiana today, you can easily see where this current crop of Republicans wants to take us.

After all, many of them are from there or built consulting careers running politicians in Louisiana.

Oh, right! Seasonal reminder that if you're carving a turkey on Thursday and, like many Americans, this is the largest whole animal you've ever disarticulated, go get a rotisserie chicken tonight or tomorrow and practice.

Look at where the joints are. Think about how to support each cut.
Hi, former turkey farmer here who raised flocks of heritage breed turkeys specifically for Thanksgiving:

What?!
Trump: "Despite their size, Secretary Kennedy has formally certified that these are the first ever MAHA turkeys. They could be fat, but they're still MAHA. They've been fattened on a steady diet of grass, beef, to allow the smoothies and all the other things they have been eating for this occasion."

I think @niedermeyer.online has the right take on this for the most part.

I tend to fall a little more on the driver responsibility side. If you leave a child in a car, you should be put in jail for a long time. I don’t understand building advanced systems to remind you about your offspring.
Exclusive: Republicans plan to challenge vehicle-safety mandates, such as automatic emergency braking and alarms that remind drivers a child is in the back seat.
Senate Committee to Challenge Auto-Safety Mandates That Hurt ‘Affordability’
Republicans are questioning the value of some features, such as automatic braking and rear-seat reminders.

I don't think we should go back to the old days. It wasn't good that child me got to buy books twice a year and even then could only pick from what B Dalton had available.

But maybe instant gratification isn't always good, and people could use a little friction in the form of a library waitlist.

again, the reason 90% of this stuff is going to die on the vine was articulated by IBM in 1979. you can hold an employee accountable if they say "invest in Bipco" and Bipco turns out to be a fraud. you can't hold claude/chatgpt/etc. accountable. and employees will figure that out, fast.

Anytime I see a post like this, I think of two things.

1. The hundred plus Apple shares I had in the summer of 1999 with a cost basis of around $16.
2. I was able to finish my degree by selling those shares in the summer of 1999 and paying my tuition.
Really enjoying the wide range of potential answers to the objectively verifiable "how much would $200 invested in Nvidia in January 2000 be worth today" question bsky.app/profile/thef...
5 shares in January 2000 cost $185. There had been no splits.

That is now 2,400 shares at $174. $418,000 today.

the only time Musk pulled cash out of Tesla, and the only time he's had tens of billions in actual cash on b hand, he used it to buy Twitter and build chatbots. He knows what the source if his wealth really is, and it isn't technological innovation, or making the best products.

I think the current secretary of transportation is an idiot, working for idiots. But you should wear shoes when you fly.

Keep your shoes on until the airplane is well up in the air or parked for safety, since you aren’t going to be able to find them if shit goes sideways.

Forget your bags, too.

This post I think correctly points out that the huge network of off-shore engagement accounts points less toward a concerted foreign effort to destabilize the US and more toward the observable fact that MAGA is a group of the dumbest idiots on the planet
"This has all been especially painful for X users who are, as a baseline, extremely racist. And they are now suffering through the psychic torment of learning that users, predominately from the Global South, are behind some of the bigger right-wing accounts on the site."

I will never pass up a chance to bash on James Carville. He hasn’t helped anyone win a consequential election in decades, and his home state is literally home base for the worst elements of Republican fascism.

It just makes me wonder why anyone would publish the dude‘s opinion on anything.
referencing james carville as "the man they worship" with regards to the "democratic establishment" makes you even more out of touch with the party than carville is, lol
