Good baseline response. Not investigations. Not vague promises of accountability. Prosecution.

Thanks to Democrats like Ruben "why aren't women hot anymore" Gallego, who voted for the Laken Riley bill, this young woman cannot be released on bail while her appeal is pending. She's in Lumpkin, GA.
Awful. Trump admin is deporting a 23-year-old NC woman who came here at the age of 14 as an unaccompanied minor. Her father was murdered and mother died of cancer. All she has are two traffic citations, per this report from Charlotte Observer's Dan Kane:

I've shared on here before, why more cops do not and cannot reduce the murder rate in US cities.

I've shared that criminal justice reformers have known what does work, and has worked in dozens of US cities. It's now driving record low homicide in Chicago and Baltimore♥️🕊️

Now let's talk cop killings

A mayoral candidate saying maybe the city should cover the cost of bus rides gets the full socialism panic treatment before he even tries it.

A sitting president taking billions of dollars worth of shares in private companies gets “I must say, a tad unusual” after it’s been going for nearly a year.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

Sure, but... "The economy" was not good in 2024. The stock market and GDP were good. 🤷🏿‍♂️

2024 was the peak year for US homelessness. Higher than during the great depression.

2024 saw 770K layoffs, an increase over 2023, which was again, a massive jump over 2022.
Once again, I remind you that this woman cannot be allowed anywhere near the strategy or leadership of the Democratic Party:

bsky.app/profile/mcop...

Also, stop it with this BS. Biden correctly said the economy in 2024 was good, because it was. Yes, no one believed it. That wasn't his fault.
Slotkin: "He's trying to distract us from the big stories of last week, the Epstein files and economy. He's tweeting 'the economy is the best it's ever been' -- amazing considering the public isn't stupid. It reminded me of Joe Biden. Biden tried to tell us for a year that the economy was great."

This is exactly why this piece is so important. The national conversation has largely flattened the effects of the VRA -- and it's potential demise -- to which party controls Congress. There's so much more to the VRA than that, and so much more on the line
I, for one, have only really thought about the VRA through the prism of federal elections, not local elections.

But this well-reported piece reminds us that ending the VRA will have an impact on ALL levels of representative government.
