Y'all I'm just tring to survive out here, and do what very little i can to help make a world that doesn't make me feel like fucking dying every single goddamn day. What in the actual fuck.
There's a new Easy Rawlins novel, so I'm gonna rewatch Luke Cage

Could be a solid step toward getting people pissed off enough to demand that surveillance pricing and surge pricing stop for good.
NEW: A newly enacted NY state law requires retailers to reveal whether it used "surveillance pricing" to decide how much you pay for goods. Target, for example, shows the alert on a pop-up when you try to buy eggs online. @regret.bsky.social—@wired.com's new investigative data reporter!—reports:

Historically, multi-front coalitions wielded lawsuits, procedural tools, & legislation as the "reasonable" alternative to direct actions, but that meant making sure those suits, procedures, & laws had real teeth. Simultaneously, said direct actions were meant to force people to the bargaining table.

Because we Are all exhausted & we can't show up for every single fight, but i feel like we should be able to be a shelter for each other, even while keeping in mind how tired we all are. I dunno, I'm mostly thinking out loud about helping & needing, but also protecting ourselves & each other's peace

Intersctional, multi-front coalitions also require displaying solidarity in good faith w/ the other members of your coalition. Especially the most vulnerable. We gotta support each other, hold each other up, literally & figuratively, when we can, even if that just means mutually exhausted leaning-on

…We're all raw and tired and doing the best we can and fucking up and trying to fix it, so let's just try to give other people and ourselves grace as we can.

Intersectional, multi-front coalitions mean trusting that even if other the people in the coalition aren't working on Your Segment of the problems, they're still on your side. In fact, they kind of require it. And that goes for friendships and other more intimate interpersonal relationships, too.

I keep trying to tell y'all: you can frustrate and delay these authoritarian kleptocrats by multiple means, and every single second of delay, every instant where they look ridiculous in public, is a space to wedge in a crowbar for more breathing space.

You work the problem from all sides.
I’m bringing this up because this is a simple procedural way to fuck with republicans even if they’re in the majority. Call them out of order, rise to a point of personal privilege, use the very procedural rules that organize their meetings to strangle them. It fucking works.

NOT A ASS OUT PASS OUT PHOTO They didn't have to do my guy like that
The masked burglar broke into the closed Virginia liquor store early on Saturday and hit the bottom shelf. The bandit was something of a nocturnal menace: bottles were smashed and alcohol pooled on the floor.

The suspect acted like an animal because, in fact, he's a raccoon.

In opposing a stay of the lower court's ruling, DC highlights how "deployment impinges on the District's home rule."
UPDATE: DC filed its opposition to the Trump admin's stay request, noting the deployment "exposes both the public and Guard members to substantial public safety risks ... as the horrific attack on two National Guard members last week tragically underscored." storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

(Give DC statehood, a voting member of congress, and two senator, and shrink the "Federal District" down to Capitol Hill and the surrounding… well, Federal District. Would the borders be weird, and kind of porous? Yes. Would it be any weirder than what's going on, now? Absolutely not.)

…The only reason my family still HAS my Grandma's house is because there's a LOT of us, and so many of my uncles, aunts, and even cousins chip in. There are tent encampments around the fucking corner.

Gentrification in DC is killing people, and we don't even get a voting member of congress for it.

My family lives and has lived in the Blackity-Blackest parts of DC, my entire life, and I've gotten to watch as areas where we knew almost every neighbour by name down three generations get turned into multi-million-dollar condos, and some of those same neighbours priced out of their family homes.

For people who don't know DC aside from the National Mall, I really really recommend y'all check out the "The Real DC" episode of @wkamaubell.bsky.social's United Shades of America.
DC is still super Black. They're trying like the devil to gentrify it & it's way less Black. But if you're Black in DC it's easy to only encounter other Black people. And for us, DC is not about national politics at all. Those politicians hate us. @wolvendamien.bsky.social @jl3001.bsky.social
Fr because ppl only think of DC as a giant office with senators and congressmen/women. DC as I remembered it was like super Black back in the day and go-go was the shit!

Statehood for D.C. is an ethical obligation at this point, required to protect the rights of our residents to govern ourselves against such out-of-state troops being sent to patrol our city.
NEW: Republican-led states, in a new filing at the D.C. Circuit, say D.C. residents are irrelevant, D.C. belongs to everyone else. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The filing is led by the South Carolina and West Virginia attorneys general. Both states sent troops to DC.

This should be everyone's reaction to this news 😭

Roswell is not like other northern ATL suburbs. It's further out in the cuts, it's very affluent, but less educated. It's whiter. It's also got an RFK-ish crunchy woo streak. Yay for Mayor Mary
A Democrat won ROSWELL?! …Roswell GEORGIA? Holy Shit.
Mary Robichaux, a former Democratic lawmaker, has won the mayor's office tonight in Roswell, Georgia, ousting a Republican incumbent.

This was one of a dozen elections that Bolts was tracking tonight in our guide that's now updated with results.

I lived in Atlanta for 22 years (1995-2017) and for a Very Long Time Roswell retained way more of its northerly Alpharetta and City of Milton neighbours than any of the southerly Atlanta influences. This is a markable moment.
This is a BIG DEAL. Roswell used to be as conservative and stereotypically Southern as it gets. It's one of the most affluent parts of metro Atlanta.

But it's been liberalizing a lot the past 10-15 years, becoming instead a haven for upper-middle class professionals.
JUST IN: Democrats have flipped the mayor's office in Roswell, Georgia, in tonight's runoff.

GOP Mayor Kurt Wilson conceded earlier tonight to Mary Robichaux, the Dem challenging him.

(This is a city in the Atlanta suburbs, the 9th most populous city in Georgia.)

The margin matters, here, and can very much be built on, in the next year.
The AP has called VA-07 for Matt Van Epps, the Republican nominee.

He is leading by 6% as the count winds down (93% reporting, but all of Nashville in, so his lead likely expands a bit more).

The GOP won the district by 22% in 2024; certainly enough of a swing to provoke cold sweats among GOPers.
