After almost 11 years together, many of which we basically saw each other as spouses, Mandy and I are married. 🥰

Went to the courthouse yesterday and just had a small intimate ceremony today. It was snowing outside as it happened.
I get paid $100-200/mo. from the Twitter ad share program, and they're now owned by SpaceX, so I'm basically an astronaut

i had surgeries in my first years of life; my very existence (and especially my capacity to hear) perverts the natural order
I don't care about what's "natural." I care about what is best for people to be able to thrive and flourish and experience joy and wonder.

in particular it’s impossible to both support women’s rights, or queer rights, and oppose technological progress, because the only reason why cis heteronormative patriarchy is collapsing is technological progress! freedom was physically impossible before the industrial revolution!
the whole point of technology is to subvert "the natural order," because the natural order is disease and decay and suffering and famine

Fire and cooked food are a technology.
They predate modern humans.
Our ancestors used them more then 1 million years ago.

Humans have never been a natural species.
Clinging to any sort of natural order is false nostalgia.

Id like to also extend this deeper to the fact that forms of pre 20th century transhumanism and posthumanism have been in the human noosphere since folks have contemplated cosmologies and ontology.

tired: spending a bajillion dollars on a ring

wired: getting a ring that's reasonably priced and looked like it's an artifact from a fantasy novel

Germans in the 1800s wanting cheap land

Ulster Scots in the 1700s wanting to be able to be Presbyterian in peace

Also a handful of English, including John Alden, who never intended to stay in the US but was hired as the Mayflower's cooper and then fell in love with Priscilla and stayed
Genuinely curious: If your family is American, what brought them here?
Mine: religious nuttery & primogeniture

The key difference here is that the UK has deeply entrenched "left-wing" TERFy transphobia in a way the US never has.

That said, don't vote for him in the primary and strive for better.
The problem with Newsom I see is he could very well end up becoming another Keir Starmer who in the UK was also voted for "lesser evil" reasons but actually drove Labour into an even more transphobic direction than even the effing Tories once were.

leftists 🤝 gavin newsom

pretending gavin newsom is the front-runner in a primary that hasn't started
Who's pretending the primary has already started and he's already won, besides Gavin Newsom?

I'm being told it's a betrayal of trans people to vote for Newsom should he make it to the general.

I'm trans. I felt betrayed that a lot of people refused to vote for Kamala. It's made my life a lot harder she lost, even if she's not perfect.

Same would apply to Newsom.

Not wasting time arguing with people who clearly are incapable of telling the difference between "I like Gavin Newsom" and "I hate Gavin Newsom and would never vote for him in a primary, but it's still worth having him win over a Republican if it comes to it"

The mistake here is thinking that the decisions of normie, un-Very Online liberal voters are going to be shaped by the left at all

And y'all spend more time performatively whining about how you won't vote that it would take to just shut up and go to the polls
Leftists in '25: We're not voting for Gavin

Leftists in '26: We're not voting for Gavin

Leftists in '27: We're not voting for Gavin

Leftists in '28: We're not voting for Gavin

Gavin in '28: *loses the general against a JD Vance/Erika Kirk ticket*

Liberals in '28: Why would leftists do this? 😡
