Imagine if Dems in the Senate hadn't caved. The House wouldn't be in session rn, the discharge petition wouldn't be signed, people wouldn't have SNAP, govt workers would be RIF'd & the GOP would have some decent talking points. But also online rage addicts would be happier! YMMV!

I don't know how sizeable the demographic of "I don't care who I support I just want to punish the people who brought us to this" is but one Dem candidate has to try "make them pay" as a campaign slogan for 2027-8. See how far it takes them. At the very least they'll have my vote.

"A death-haunted Trump is fed a steady stream of AI-generated news and polls while he focuses 100% of his efforts on building a ballroom that would dwarf the rest of the White House while navigating a series of accellerating and hidden health crises" is my take on the current situation.

queerly beloved, please stop trying to associate 'folx' with 'latinx' and also while we're at it talk to like a single hispanohablante person before popping off confidently about the practical usage of -x in Spanish terminology

they are completely diff. things w/ different etymologies

i don't want to hostile-QRT Sarah Jeong because I respect her and her work and genuinely don't want to be rude but she posted a "this is not a place of honor" thing w/r/t Nuzzi, Lizza, et al., and... ma'am yes that is in fact our contention, Journalism is an unmanaged nuclear waste site

Usually at this point somebody will scold me for not specifying that of course I don’t mean independent journalists but I’m not sure I don’t. I am aware that these aren’t the people doing the specific acts I’m complaining about but many of them still want to provide cover for the field

I think journalists On Here want us to believe these big publications are staffed by scrappy little guy heroes and the bad acts are done by the owners, the boards, the editors, the awful never-identified headline writers, and we just need to squint and see their heroic acts between the article lines

skeptical of anti-AI in the broadest possible sense AND of Affordability Discourse and i *still* think this is absolutely the correct take; i don't know what a good or fair short-term fix for this problem looks like but we need to start thinking about it yesterday
democrats/liberals/progressives with any common sense need to get ahead of this electricity cost issue - we need restraint and regulation of ai and data centers, which are driving up costs www.cnbc.com/2025/11/26/a...

Energy-hungry data centers that underpin artificial intelligence are contributing to higher residential electricity bills, say experts.

THIS, god

all else set aside i will vote for basically ANYONE in a dem primary in 2026 and 2028 if they run on "i will take fire and the scourge to every single human who made this fucking shit happen to our country"
I'm just so angry, but not in the incandescent rage sense, in the sense that I think I might become a single issue voter toward destroying this industry and everything adjacent to it because how else can we survive?

dawg what
Nano Banana / Gemini really is amazing -- I gave it a cameraphone image from 2009 and had it upscale, change perspective, and remove the trash can.
You just straight-up couldn't do this in Photoshop, no matter how good you are.

Why do they have impunity on this? Because when they finally ended two decades of disastrous war, the press of the white people world rose up as one to scream at them for not continuing for another twenty until it fell out of the headlines, then we never discussed what that war was about again.

I don't think middle management LLM users are any better trained than everyone else, and a lot of the use cases I see personally aren't very good

but I'm excited to take a few days to help some of my management chain intensively learn how I do it; I want to see how it changes their jobs in turn

granted: lots of people have had bad supervisors and managers, and few places try to make good ones

but there's a reason middle management existed and was successful for a pretty long time as we figured out how to scale human organizations, and those support structures have deteriorated for *them*

this baby's-first-interpretation of middle management seems pretty instructive as to a lot of the gap that otherwise intelligent and literate people around places like bluesky have with regards to LLMs/AI more generally

if you've ever *been* a good middle manager, I think it's a lot more legible
